I don't have a problem with how dota 2 sponsorships are set up. If they want to take 10% or whatever, I don't mind. This isn't SC2, as Taloo said. They aren't horribly overworked.

But

GET HYPED. First TI3 event this afternoon.

275k people watching this between twitch and in game.
There's over 200k on the chinese streams too so it's pretty big numbers, even though there's probably a large amount on both game client and twitch.

As for Quantic I don't think they played well but mostly they weren't gonna win teamfights easily with their setup, they had a lot of single target damage and that was about it, they had very few disables, very little aoe, the plan was kill one guy and push, rinse repeat and endgame at 25mins tops, but Rattlesnake responded with a strong teamfight lineup and grouping very early for towers. They drafted and played perfectly to counter that type of play and Quantic pretty much had no hope of winning besides super derping. The last 15mins of the game were a waste of time.

Quantic's advantage comes when they play to their strengths, which really means goblak has to win the drafting phase of the game. G1 was questionable, G2 was not, and you can probably put most of the blame on RS for letting wisp through. We'll see how the next games come out.

Both teams have a win, both teams have a loss, hopefully the nerves are settling and they can all play at a high level. These viewer numbers for the play in game are a lot more than I expected.

Quantic kind of got stomped there, but they had a few nice kills at least.
Play aside, these drafts are not the best.

Game 1 Quantic had clinkz as the single core of a lineup that had to execute PERFECTLY to work, against a tricore lineup that needed only 1.5 of the 3 to "go off" and SF made that trilane his bitch for first blood.
Game 3 they again chose a single core lineup with Sven (with Wisp/DS combo), while RS chose to do a dual core lineup of CK and Gyro. The problem with this single core lineup was that again, it needed to be executed really well each time (vacuum into the stun into the RNG crit cleave) and we saw it work once, and kinda a second time.

This requirement Quantic put on themselves is what cost them both games. RS didn't need a perfect vacuum or pray for a huge crit cleave. They had CK and Gyro to handle the load.

Of course, it goes deeper when the play comes in but even in theory the Quantic drafts were somewhat weak, requiring more precision play, where the RS drafts allowed for more variability. The execution of game 3's trilane also should have netted Quantic far more than it actually got them.

Couldn't agree more for the Sven game. Everytime he got roared, he just melted and quantic had nothing left at all to fight with. Whereas Rattle had 2 solid damage dealers..

They did it again game 4. There is a lot of pressure on QoP to dominate the early game, with NP and Tinker picking it up and pushing immediately. It's not a versatile lineup, and it it doesn't go well the only thing they have to go on is an attempt to split.

Meanwhile RS drafts 2.5 cores in CK, Weaver, and SS. SS can even be so-so in this, and weaver can bloom late, since it's really difficult to push into AA and KotL.

I mean we'll see how it plays but they're hamstringing themselves with these drafts.

Yeah I dont think they'll be able to push in raxes with their lineup and late game RS is a lot stronger.

They lost the early game, and their lineup can't survive late. So...they lost the time they were supposed to win, and since their lineup only does one thing really well, they lose this in a draft unless RS throws it to a split push.

I was disappointed when Quantic won the qualifier just because I didn't think they had a chance in this tourny, guess that didn't stand a chance to get into it either!

The draft in that fourth game was shameful. Obviously they wanted the super split push action. But having an all int lineup with no hard disables kind of fucks you in team fights. Yeah you got some burst with QoP/Tinker/Visage nuke, but Chen Centaur's Stomp, Visage Grave Chill, Tree Trap, and QoP dagger is really some shitty disables on an all int team. Oh well, not like either of those teams is going to be in the top 8 anyhow.
