Interesting fact:

If you take out Arteezy's 5-1 record on Razor, the hero is 18-33 for a putrid 35% win percentage. Hard to believe he keeps getting picked.

They haven't played much rat during this TI, mostly because Furion is always banned against them, and they've been losing a lot as a result.
Mostly, but I think there have been 2 games where Furion or Lone weren't 1st or 2nd ban and they still didn't even pick them and try to force the opponent in to the defense. Last night neither were banned and Alliance still went Razor / Doom 1 and 2. They're just all over the page it seems and unfocused.

I would say that no one in this tournament is doing anything to the same level of perfection as TI3 Alliance's Rat Dota or TI2 Chinese Morphling. It seems like everyone is just kind of relying on all-around skill and playmaking rather than any particular well-practiced strategy.

That might have more to do with the format, though. It's tough to nail down a single strategy that might be dominant when you are playing 15 different teams each with different play styles.

Why does it take more skill?
If you keep all lanes too far pushed then the majority of your team only has neutrals for farm, which means that if you are not careful your team will fall behind on farm. if you do not have a lane pushed then you are vulnerable. It takes more map awareness to keep track of how all the lanes are going to push. I don't know how much of a problem that is a pro level, but at low level it's hard enough to keep track of where their players are, without also having to constantly keep an eye on the creeps in the lanes. You always have to plan your fights in advance to get the lanes where you want them before you have to fight.

I don;t know about you, but I find it a hell of a lot easier to play something like tidehunter/void/anything with a big aoe ultimate than something like tinker.

Maybe yeah I didn't pay attention to bans as much as I often hop from game to game and rarely watch picks/bans but when I did it always seemed banned. They picked lone druid a couple of times with mixed results but never picked Furion. I think they went with a more "traditional" pick style but the problem is they're getting counter picked or they play poorly or their picks don't even mesh very well, it's just yeah not very good.

Yeah I don't think Razor is a good blind pick. You're just picking him up in response to tanky lineups.

Well he's good WITH and good AGAINST Void is the thing, which is why he's being picked up the majority of the time.

Super is the best player on that hero in the world imo. He has been playing Razor for months and kicking ass with that hero whereas other teams are just picking it up now. Think hes 1-1 with it in Ti4 but that loss wasn't on him either.

So a lot of stuff is left to decide in terms of who is eliminated or not, like it's still fucking close. I think a bunch of the 7wins teams might still be able to lose but I haven't done the exact permutations to figure out in which case it'd happen, however it's quite possible that teams at 6-9 at the end will play tiebreakers to decide which one is eliminated(not sure on the rules though, it might not be the case if it's based on performance between the teams or just their overall score).

It's gonna be a stressful day tomorrow for these teams, especially since a lot of them will barely make it in and then they'll have to play from the lower bracket with a chance of being elminated right away for shitty money.

Also Alliance has to beat Navi and EG if they want a solid chance at this, so it looks pretty grim for them. Beating one only might get them in tiebreakers depending on results from other teams.

Let us know when you finish the Monte Carlo analysis and how it'll turn out. Because right now my 1 semester of statistics says it's pretty much a lot of people's game.

Except for Arrow

Oh fuck that I'm just looking at it like a casual and thinking of extreme cases to see what can happen and you can see there's a lot of possibilities of stuff happening tomorrow. Hell if Navi drops this game and their other 2 games tomorrow, they might be in trouble. Winning this would put them out of risk for tomorrow which would help a lot mentally I'd say, as they'd play for better seeding only(which is still very important obviously the way the prizes are setup).
