Its no secret I like Hodj's posts. He sources his shit and uses standard debate and scientific methodology to make his arguments. He doesn't ever troll shit for the sake of trolling it and, as far as I am aware, he does not lie or misrepresent people. He is also not a coward. Now, he is OCD as fuck, but I can accept that if it means getting good sourced material on a topic of interest. Compare this shit to a_skeleton_03 style "Fuck all alt accounts.... except mine" and "Clones can't exist because only god can make souls", combined with his usual trolling and cowardice fuckery, and its no contest for me. Having said that, Hodj does go overboard at times but sometimes the only way to confront willful retardation is with blunt force trauma. And when to well sourced smart guys go at it? Well, as much as I love me some Hodj spam, watching the Excited Southerner vs Lithose battle was (for me) the most entertaining debate on these forums for a long while.
It can go too far. Refuting Cad (and now a_skeleton_03) with actual hard facts about climate change is not one of those times it did. I have guardedly defended Draegan a number of times, because as someone who has been a moderator/guild leader, I know what a thankless job being in charge of the monkey cage is. But he clearly has a few things he is especially sensitive about where he abandons rules and reason, the most common examples being racist comments and hodj. Given his extreme sensitivity to the N-word trolling, racist comments, and outright criminal disregard for Moon Bat shitting the up the GG thread for nearly a year, I have come to a hypothesis:
I think Draegan might be one of the white knight neckbeard SJW MacIntosh types. It would certainly explain a lot of his peculiar obsessions on this board and he definitely fits the MO. His trouble with Hodj began in the ZimZam thread and travelled through the GG one, so it certainly seems to me like it is a strong possibility that he might be a closet SJW. I say closet because I am pretty sure the board would eat him alive if he admitted to being a blue hair beta orbiter.

I thought that was pretty obvious from the get go, honestly. His problem with me can be summarized as "Hodj laid out the facts of the Zimmerman case and turned the board away from token acceptance of media victim narratives, and that makes my (Draegan's) butt sore".
Hell I'm a secular humanist, and lean slightly to the left on pretty much all socio-economic issues, and certainly feel racism is a reality in our society.
But the facts still matter. And in the Zimmerman case, the fact was that Martin returned to the encounter location to start a fight and got shot for it. End of story.
That was definitely a turning point in this community in terms of how they process information. Most people here would still describe themselves as quite liberal, but they aren't drinking the fucking kool aid with the people who take leftism to a religious state. That made Draegan super angsty.

And hodj correct me if you think we were arguing something different, but I think part of the issue we had is we were talking past each other because I threw out the 5-10 degrees thing (which was my bad), even though I wasn't really intending to argue effects of any particular degree change. You grabbed on to that and were like, wtf cad, you dumb bro. But I was like, all I'm saying is, we're not going to go easily, technology will allow us to blah blah. But in this case I actually did make a statement that I shouldn't have and hodj quoted it (in the end). I think that could have been avoided by me being more careful about what I claim, but also hodj being more direct about what claim he's refuting. We were never going to agree because we weren't arguing the same things. Once you quoted that 5-10 degrees thing I was like, wtf yea thats wrong and we calmed it down.
I think one thing hodj that could help your posting style is to try to distill a point down to some essential parts, and not paragraph-spam. In my case I should have been more careful about what I said but in your case you were trying to overwhelm us with "evidence" of something I didn't even realize we were arguing. So it was like whoosh.

Yeah I was just trying to help you understand why a 5 to 10 degree Celsius worldwide climate increase would basically mean its all fucked.
That was the claim I was addressing.
But that's the nature of this format, we don't have things like tonal quality of the voice, and other non verbal cues, to better understand when someone is making a specific claim, or a general one.
And once I quoted the world authorities like the IPCC saying that a 2 degree celsius global increase is the upper limit they want to contain the next century of warming to (which is already fucked and will be exceeded by at least 50%), then we all got stuck on trying to argue basically where in the gradiation humans can survive and what point past that they can't.
We should be able to have a debate on this forum, and have that debate conclude amicably, without Draegan or Tuco or someone coming in 6 and 8 and 10 hours and more later and throwing out egregious infractions completely devoid of the context of the debate and where it is at at that point.
Draegan's actions are clearly indefensible. The conversation had ENDED, yet he comes in, throws me in the shaw, and then says "Now that Hodj is gone we can enjoy this discussion" AFTER THE DISCUSSION WAS OVER.

This exactly. I always believe that when Hodj is freaking out, it is because he really cares about it. He isn't just a_skeleton_03 or tanoomba concern trolling, or just taking on a position just to be argumentative.
Now sure, Hodj goes overboard a bit. For example, in the climate argument recently, I made a quick off the cuff post and Hodj jumped all over me. I really didn't feel like turning it into a huge fight (as I was in the middle of grading Finals) so I just left the thread. Of course, what absolutely killed my interest in coming back when I did finish wasn't Hodj, it was a_skeleton_03 jumping in kinda saying what I was wanting to get at, but really just using it as a way to misrepresent what Hodj was saying to strawman him.
a_skeleton_03 kinda takes the cake as far as disingenuous idiots go and I just refuse to seriously take part in a conversation with him anymore. I just can't tell if he is really as stupid as he seems or is just pretending, but regardless, it is clear its pointless to talk to him about religion, science or pretty much anything outside of a tv show thread. If anyone should have been rickshawed for that whole conversation, it should have been a_skeleton_03.
