I've actually never played this, so bought it on Steam just now on a whim - any tips for a total noob?
Something that's easy to miss is that once you hit level 10 (not vocation rank) you can change vocation at the inn in Gran Soren.

Your stats increase based on what your vocation is when you level. Charts can be foundin this guideif you want to min max stats.

Escort quests start the moment you accept them. You might want to check where you have to go on the map and go there alone to plan your route.

I enjoyed playing a caster back when I played the game, but I will just warn you (and anyone else that tries a caster): when you fight a golem, you're going to hate your fucking life.
Already rerolled. Strider to 10 and now Assassin for the foreseeable future. Climbing up monsters and stabbing them in the face is much more fun. Plus I had forgotten about golems, I can imagine they'd be a bitch as a caster.

The game isn't difficult on normal mode so I would just play what you want. Do every quest you can find because they level you the fastest.

I wouldn't worry to much about min/maxing imo.

Just cycle out your pawns every level for another set of free ones.

Also, once you get the infinite ferrystone you can fast travel anywhere pretty much so don't get to depressed that the first batch of levels is a good bit of footwork. It gets easier pretty quickly.

Just finished the main campaign, and Im working on the DLC right now. Makes me want to play the MMO now.

Thanks for that guide - not sure how I missed this the first time around, but I fired this up last night and loved the intro. Made a fighter and will go from there. Glad something came out as I had just started to wind down my time w/ Fallout 4. After months in that dreary wasteland its nice playing some fantasy again ha

My tips for a new player

1) Notice boards
- Inn in Cas
- 3 in GS. At the inn, bar (opposite side of the inn) and down in the pawns guild

2) Once you deliver the hydra to Gran Soren, immediately check notice boards for escort quests. These disappear at set progress points. These might be hard to do early on, but do them and save often.

3) There are two "saves" a checkpoint save and a hard save. If you're about to go on an adventure, going into riftstone to the pawn world and back again will force a checkpoint save. I've used this a few times to undo some things that happened on my hard save (which gets saved over by entering towns, caves, or by you selecting save).

4) If you get pawns that run towards enemies like idiots, disband them. Pawn management = pet management and bad pawns can and will get you killed.

5) Normal anodyne (heal spell) might be better than High for a pawn. Pawns will always charge it to max, and it takes longer to cast compared to the normal one, so if looking for healer pawns, go with one that has haildom (high version of that is better, cures more status effects) and the normal anodyne. Once you upgrade from normal to high, you can't go back and chose the lesser version.

6) A little bit (not that far) into the game, you will get access to making your own port locations. While you can put them wherever you want, the first one I would recommend going through Witchwood again, exiting near the witch, and place it on the top before you jump down.

You have to min/max IMO.

The expansion stuff will wreck you if you don't at least follow the optimal leveling guide, as in when to switch to what class.

Not really true, i did strider > MA and wrecked the game without ever touching mage or sorcerer. By the end i was killing Damien in 15sec or so.

yeah following those min/max level 200 guides is really not necessary. Just get the augments you need from the other classes and you are good. Alot of your attack power comes from gear.

Seem to be doing fine in the DLC. I've yet to get wrecked by anything in this game, and I'm playing the way I want with no guides.

Yeah, the min-max stuff just gives you a slight edge at lower levels compared to mob hp. Just running around killing things however you find it fun works as well. Definitely not a requirement unless you really need to shave an attack off a monster you are farming or something.

The game does a good job of letting you play how you want, when you want. Play the first 20 hours as a tank but want to switch to a healer? Go for it! Play as a healer but want to switch to a rogue? Go for it! That is an idea that I wish more games did. Don't punish me because I want to play a 100 hour game, but I don't want to use the same attacks that whole time

Keep the forgery for the discount, give the real one to the turn-in guy. The forgery keeps the discount effect while turning it in doesn't expand the shops.

Considering the rarity of the loot in Everfall is there any reason to go there and not just jump right into BBI at L66? I somehow ended up near 70 by the time i got around to killing Grigori - I also maxed out warrior, fighter, and assassin as an assassin just to get all the strength benefits. I cant think of anything really relevant in Everfall, some of the loot looks nice but the % if like 1-10% at best for some of those drops.

If you can handle Bitterblack, it is 100% better unless you have top level pre-expac dragonforged stuff. Otherwise, Bitterblack is superior across the board (when you actually get something you want to use hah. F'n rng)

Hmm think i f'd up - i used godsbane and finished game before going to BBI - PC version doesnt let you choose different saves so now i have to go into NG+ - not sure if levels carry over, if not f that!

I done goofed and didn't do the Lost and Found quest in time, now I cannot have access to the part of the Witchwood where King Bay Leaf are found.

If someone could send me one through my pawn it would be much appreciated! My steam name is anatolehp and my pawn is level 27 or 28 as of right now, named Chicken Fat.

Can someone who is experienced answer this question?

Is your stat growth 100% determined on what vocation you are currently in when you level?

If so I may have gimped my first character going warrior. May start again ,and make the assassin build this time since Im new game+ anyway, and I've cleared both end game dungeons.

Assassin has highest strength growth and Ranger highest Sta - MA has highest Magic Def
