I'm a sucker for funcom games, so I will probably buy it for launch, even though there is a 95% chance it has a bad launch like all funcom games. I do love a survival building game and conan exiles was a fun even when it was in early access. Dragging slave workers back to base by a rope around their ankle after knocking them out with a club never got old.
Pushback is disappointing from the perspective of wanting to play it, but if they actually use those 3 weeks to actually polish and improve game, then long run that is probably better
People are weird about what is a MMO to them. You can have a 2k max player per server game where you see maybe a dozen or so players on screen at any given time and no one questions it’s an MMO because it’s traditional RPG based.
Dune’s starter area is the traditional survival game size but there are much larger common area servers and an interconnected economy. The economy part is where it clearly separates itself from survival games and becomes an MMO to me.
I learned one thing watching streamers - taking a sharp turn on your bike is a sure fire way to lose all momentum and become worm food
Game seems to have promise - repairing vehicles actually has some complexity to it, which is neat. I could see people become the clan mechanic as a job
Despite the jank and some of the bugs, Conan Exiles was still one of the better games of the past 15 or so years for me. I put a TON of hours into that game with my bros.
Think he said there's an open beta coming out around May 10th (?) through May 13th which is good. I think a lot more people are interested after watching streamers play and they can get in and see if it's worth paying for or not. The one issue is that the PVP server unlock stuff seems to be pretty deep so I'm not sure 3 days is long enough, but it's also good for not having min max zerg fests cheezedick strat early for launch to cockblock everyone else out of stuff.
Though there's a 90% chance they've already done that in closed beta. We'll see.
He's being an idiot and so are you thinking getting access to yet another Funcom server-capped survival MMO with Dune lore paint is gonna get eventually good. It's Funcom, characters move like they're Boston Dynamics robots, combat gameplay is an offense to GTAIII and game systems (lol dude just harvest stuff) feel so foul you'd rather automate anything.
That's a strange take, because Funcom games are fucking fun as shit. The problem with them is always the jank they start with, that sometimes takes years to fix.
But Anarchy Online? Secret World? Conan? They were all fantastic games and etched into my mind as some of the best I've ever played. They just had...issues.
