There isn't really an MMO market anymore outside indie games and Asian shit.

Sure there is, Fuck wow had what? 10 million, 12? Yeah, they are out there and they will come and play if the fucking game does not suck like every mmorpg has since 2004.

Look at Destiny, yeah, mmorpg lite, but fuck they sold a shit ton of boxes, and even if they charged a monthly fee in sure they would of made a mint, and the thing is, Destiny and Destiny 2 werent even spectacular games, some would even say they were mediocre at best.

So yeah, the market is out there, they are just not buying shit, and wow is too fucking bloated and old by now for many to even care anymore. Watch when wow progression servers come out, lol...

Rock and roll through Heavy Metal was super popular and dominated air time. How’s it doing now?

Days of traditional MMOs like EQ and Wow are over. It ain’t coming back. Mobile games make 50x more revenue at a tenth of the cost. You’d literally have to be retarded not to use old IPs for cheap mobile gaming. They’re a cash cow. And the market has moved on because of it. No one is ever going to sit at their PC or console grinding all day it’s too confining a platform.

...was that really it for Square Enix? Just a bunch of shitty trailers which we've seen some of before? 1/10.

Huh. So, no Avengers, and no FF7. Although I guess they might be shown off at Sony's thing.

I mean "traditional MMOs". Destiny does not count. And WoW is exactly why I said there is no market anymore; WoW dominates it and will for the foreseeable future. There is no competition.

Sony may be holding all SE's good cards for tonight i imagine, and dam Mixer streams are just so nice for this - this year.

That's kinda what Im thinking. Those sorts of games beg for a live reaction from a crowd and wouldnt have the same impact just being part of a pre-recorded video.

Anyone expecting a big SE blow out needs to lurk moar.

They showed more than I was expecting them to show honestly. SE always do their own thing and they'd rather have an entire conference based on the VII remake.

Japanese devs are like that.

I would imagine this has to be the case. Sony will definitely come out swinging tonight.

Sure it counts, it's the same shit. You level up, you team up with others for group and raid content mixed with some competative PvP content. One difference I see is the lack of a monthly fee. Granted it's more soft core, but come on, bro.

let Blizzard launch "world of starcraft" or "world of diablo" and you'll see 15-20 million copies sell pretty fast. MMO's aren't dead, just new ones are targetting Asian markets and no one has an IP or way to dethrone Blizzard at the moment.

I think XIV does fine honestly. It has a respectable playerbase with good content that's keeping players engaged.

Expecting things to hit WoW levels of players is silly seeing as it's the exception and not the rule when talking about MMOs.
