Lion king , toy story etc are considered chick flicks? I would say most animated movies as general/everyone audience, especially pixar movies.
Even the Hunger games is an action/adventure staring a female lead.

Titanic is the only chick flick on that list.

The belief that Tom Cruise hasn't majde a good movie in 20 years is one of the worst film opinions I've ever heard.

Minority Report, Magnolia, Eyes Wide Shut, Mission Impossible 3 and 4, Collateral are all great. Even his crappier action movies are entertaining.
Only collateral and minority report are great.the others suck so bad (eyes wide shut? Kubrick must be turning over in his grave)

Some animated movies are chick flicks.lion king? Toy story? Not even close.
Hunger games, for me, is a chick flick because everything is toned down to a younger audience, adding a (bad) female lead so girls can relate to...

Hunger Games isn't a movie i would call a chick flick.. it's more of a..... teen action film?
When i think of chick flick i think of shit like: The Notebook, A Walk to Remember etc.

I count 12 that are not chick flicks/kids movies.

*edit* - Guess I caused a bit of a derail. My bad.
Shrek, E.T., The Lion King and Toy Story are not Chick Flicks. They are more or less all demographic movies. My favorite movie is sci Fi/Fantasty/Action Adventure but I've seen and enjoyed all four of those movies.

Jennifer Lawrence is bad?

ok.
Overrated at the very least. I personally am not a fan, although she was actually a pretty good choice for the Hunger Games movies. She was just terrible for Mystique, and I couldn't stand her in American Hustle. Not sure I've seen her in anything else (still need to muster up the desire to watch Silver Linings Playbook), but she strikes me as someone cast simply because she's the big thing right now, not because she's actually the best choice. That's my personal opinion, of course; I know many people think she's a great actress.

Aww that's too bad, this care troll was really developing into something. Sorry I had to shit all over this thread, but it did keep it bumped for the last few days, and this is a pretty good movie so there's that.

Book ending is definitely a bit depressing. Not sure you could make they kind of movie in Hollywood these days. Much like the original ending to T4.

Saw it today, good stuff. Only seven people total in the cinema, but it was early afternoon. The middle of the movie was great and gave a Twilight Zone vibe. Reminded me a bit of the whole Dark Souls experience (die till you get it right).

I have the same opinion.she's perfect for hunger games, average movie for an average actress.
Silver linings is another average romantic comedy in which she won an oscar. So now they want to make her the next big thing by force...

Just saw this, pretty cool flick - definitely among the better movies released this year. Better than spiderman by far, id say on par with Godzilla but not as good as Captain America or Xmen.

I've liked JLaw in pretty much everything I've seen her in. Especially Silver Linings Playbook.

I haven't read any of your comments yet.

I rarely give a shit about action movies anymore but this was a good movie! Groundhog day mashup. 7.5/10

Saw it yesterday.

Was better than I expected.

Would place it as my third favorite movie this year. And for me this has been a good year for movies so that is not a bad spot at all.

My only gripe is that being a Hollywood SciFi movie the ending seemed to not leave an out for a sequel, which was odd to me.

i wonder if scheduling a guy oriented movie the weekend before E3 was a really bad idea. I've thought about going this week but with all the E3 gaming stuff going on and a ton of betas popping up just haven't felt the interest to drive to the theater, and pretty soon it just turns into "meh I'll just wait the 4 months for the blurays".

and yeah the idea that chick flicks are going to dominate the box office is silly, the top movies of 2014 are

1. lego
2. captain america 2
3. spidey 2
4. x-men
5. godzilla
6. divergent (CHICK FLICK)
7. neighbors
8. ride along (ice cube)
9. maleficent (CHICK FLICK)
10. rio 2

if your primary audience is gonna be boys 11-17 year old the weekend before the largest annual gaming conference and a week after mario kart 8 is probably a bad idea
