I finally stepped into NG+ to check it out but I'm a bit disappointed that you retain your map. Was hoping for some of that early game mystery + curb stomping early bosses but I'm all out of mystery over here.
I don't see the allure of NG+ in ER. Maybe it's because I methodically went through all the areas but I really wanted a fresh experience. I don't even know if NG+ gets hard until like, 5 levels in or something.

Wait...

I'm not the only person that gets this?

I am literally stunned by this revelation.

The problem is almost all the video games you play are actually terrible or merely mediocre at best, like actual all of them. Horizon or whatever other Assassin's Creed or the latest EA abomination whatever it may be are not good - they are skinnerboxes designed by psychologists to keep you just engaged yet frustrated enough to crack open their cash shop.

Actual truly good games are super super rare, and when one finally does come along then yea, it really takes the shine off everything else. Happened with God of War 4 a few years back, Last of Us before that, etc.

The only way to fill the void after Elden Ring is to play DS1 over and over again

It's going to be hard going back to older DS games after ER for me.

And yeah, I just can't get interested in anything else in my huge backlog atm heh. Legit want to start a third character after I finish up this second playthrough.

For Mohg,

You can get a crystal for the Wonderous that will limit his blood drain when he changes too phase 2, it doesn't flat out stop the healing/damage but it does make it an easier recovery.

And parry's seems odd having too multi-parry boss's(I didn't even try it on Malena's Sword art..), I did figure out if you roll back a cpl times when she is charging it, then after the first wave roll too her right and then run away a bit you can dodge it..

Just killed NG+ Margit. Just for the funnies I summoned 2 other players to "help", I was kinda surprised anyone was even available but there were 5 summon signs and I'm like level 250 from overfarming and maxing a ton of different weapons.

Is it actually possible to roll/dodge Milenias anime attack? My current setup relies super heavily on 2h for damage/stagger, but I can't survive her even using that attack much less avoid enough of it for her to not heal 40% health.

I've tried:

Sprint in various directions trying to build distance, no dice tho she just teleports as far as she needs to to be on top of you.

Rolling forward doesn't get you out of range, neither does backwards. The bonus roll talisman doesn't even do it.

You can soak the entire thing with about ~73 shield stability, provided she doesn't clip over you during it and assrape you from behind anyway, but even if you do she gets the full heal from it.

Yeah I would guess that they just bought the name and maybe got a couple of tidbits from him, he didn't mention Elden Ring in his "I'm too busy to write Winds of Winter" blog.

I wonder who the Silmarillion nerd was who wrote in the giant glowing tree? Really gives the game a crazy otherworldy feel seeing that thing everywhere.
So much about this damn game is mysterious and demands investigation. The ErdTrees, the Deathroot, the story involving the merchants, the Great Caravan and why the merchants all use the Frenzied Flame when attacked. All the different factions, the piecing together the reason for the state of the world, who are the Black Knives and what set the whole story in motion. Even the way they say " Our home, The Lands Between", its like pouring the Lorephedamine right into my veins. Queen Marika, Godfrey and his Tarnished, we Tarnished coming back. Godwyn the Golden, Rennala and her amber egg, her doomed affair with Radagon. StarScourge Rahdan, the reason for the festival, why Caelid is infested with Scarlet rot.

There are a thousand mysteries and I have to know every why and what. It's delicious and maddening. There is as much lore as there is content.

I wonder if there is a huge plan connecting everything or if it's just like, "lets have all the merchants do some frenzied flame stuff"

There’s a note that talks about them having a lord under the capital city. They’re connected somehow.

the merchants are super interesting. and the frenzied flame lore is pretty neat. next play through i'm going to do those questlines for sure. i've been peicing together bits of it, reading a bit of reddit theory crafts. really neat stuff.

Uh ok so I went down to the capital sewer Grace and started smacking walls and found what the note is referring to. What in the fucking fuck is going on with the merchants

How about the fact that the first death was actually two deaths at the same instant?

Also, there is a ton of evidence that a comet hit the world eons ago and it had life on it.

Finery of the nomadic merchants.
Decorated with tiny gems in a wide spectrum of colors.

These merchants once thrived as the Great Caravan, but after being accused of heretical beliefs, their entire clan was rounded up and buried alive far underground.

Then, they chanted a curse of despair, and summoned the flame of frenzy.

tl;dr the jews summoned a fire golem during the holocaust

Gun to my head, I couldn’t tell you which bits are Martin and which are Miyazaki. They’re both great world builders but everything in the story is already the same type of shit Miyazaki has been coming up with for over a decade. I just assumed they gave Martin a giant check to put his name on the box.
Approx 2:53 he starts talking about GRRMs contributions:

I tend to agree with his observations. The game’s plot (characters, quests, overarching story) is all From and Miyazaki, but the WORLD, the factions, locations, religions, gods, are GRRM. He used his experience as a DM to establish the lore/world/background that From populated with their characters and stories.

i don't know if they are linked but i think there's at least 3 'extra terrestrial' races. i don't THINK they're part of the same ecosystem. i get the impression they origionated from seperate 'outer gods' or at least divergent purposes.
