I mean I have something that summons two fish, and a few more. When I use it in a fight, does it disappear from my inventory and I have to go get more?

In Skyrim terms, is it a spell or a scroll?

You can summon them endless times, they're like pets in an MMO.

Early on, the jellyfish summon was the one I found the most effective (and it's super easy to get in the first few minutes, too). Poisons bosses, pulls aggro, strikes from a distance so it'll have a boss running all over the place.

Later there are some really good ones that are worth saving upgrade materials for, like Mimic Tear and Black Knife Tiche.

Jelly is indeed S tier early game for tanking.

I played through the first run to 100% with incantation. This was PRE BUFF incantation, dogshit and all at release. It was a shitshow most of the time. Huge long casting animations compared to sorcery, and not much damage output compared to sorcery.

I made it through and beat the game on Incant build-- but had to know a lot about summons. Never respec'd never folded although plenty of moments I almost broke and had to take a week off.

Go to the church you see at the start of the game with a merchant in it at night.

Talk to "Renna", also starts the quest for the blue cunny.

She might not be there if you advanced too far, if so you can buy the bell from the vendor at roundtable hold.

No judgement but just so you know summons are considered easy mode. I mean it's not really easy mode but people know what I mean.

I don't give a shit how people play

Assume we won't hear about the next Fromsoft game until nightreign has been out awhile

As opposed to item stacking exploits that let you one shot bosses, or using a 100% shield so the boss can't hurt you? It's a single player game and there's lots of cheesy combos.

These let you choose your difficulty. Calling it "easy mode" or not is moot.

Bell? Maybe that's what I'm missing. I'll look it up
Yeah, Ranni will give you a "bell" and you'll be able to summon 1 thing once per rested play anywhere you see this icon. Every boss room, and many out door areas will have small pillars that signal the ability to summon spirits.

I may have used 10 different incantations and consumables but at least I didn't use a summon!

Seeing everyone talk about this game gives me the urge to boot this beast up again. Does anyone here play on PC? I think some team arena with FoH has potential for being a good time!

I mean you can beat 90% of the game with flame grant me strength, golden vow, a couple +fire trinkets and just spamming takers flames. I know I did.
I actually never used incantations/spells whenever I played. From Soft's rollodex management system will always be pants on head retarded for keyboard and mouse so I never bothered.

Would just summon my mimic and if it died it died. Only time it felt "cheesy" was when I equipped the sword off the snakeman. Double knock down + heal was a bit much.

Unless you beat the game with a level one vagabond in a loin cloth you're playing on easy mode.

So I did research on mods and there appear to be two big popular all in one mods - Convergence and Reforged

Reforged is more true to vanilla ER with few changes to the actual world and is more about gameplay tweaks like adding perfect timing bonuses to weapons, improved hit boxes, and "classes" that give your character an upside and downside the way a class would.

Convergence is more of an overhaul mod with new areas, new bosses, new spells/weapons so its more of a new game in the ER engine. I'm currently doing Reforged and like it so far if you want a more classic ER experience with some gameplay/QoL fixes.

I think the only thing that makes summons considered to be "cheese" is the fact that they'd pull agro letting you get in free hits. Otherwise they'd be no different then blasting something with 100 FP worth of comets. I used them until I "got gud" and now skip using them on my play throughs but I still want to throw my keyboard through the wall on a few fights. You could also argue running around farming runes is cheese at this point and as others said its a single player game so who cares.

Calm down summon using faggot, I was just letting OP know. I don't care how people play.

My wife beat the game 100% using a claymore and no items/summons. Not even to be some soulsborne hero, but just because she was stubborn.
