I'm at the Melania fight so that video was on point. Can get her to phase 2 pretty reliably but keep getting tripped up there and run out of steam. Decided to take a bit and test out this Parry stuff. Man I have no idea how he does that. I've successfully parried about 3 attacks, never back to back to stagger her. Even with Buckler Parry I'm so far off haha.

Bro, fuck this fight. I cannot even get her past 50%. For some reason this fight is just fuck starting me. Even when I have a good run her water dancer shit either kills me or heals her to full. Infuriating.

From a level of frustration standpoint these are my favorite fights though. Generally aren't huge terrain issues, a giant hitbox that you're struggling to work around, camera issues, etc. Just you and a humanoid enemy in an arena. Kind of a real get gud fight. So I can beat my head against this wall and not get too mad. The other bullshit stuff that is beyond my control like a dragon clipping on the side of a cliff and not being able to reach him and other stuff really irritates me and makes the fight feel out of my control and nothing I could do will help that.

Man that mohg fight is impressive. I can’t get myself to stick on mobs like that, I just panic roll away too much.

Didn’t watch the other one, haven’t fought Malenia yet. I’m sure it’s just as impressive though.
I learned this lesson well with Loretta. It actually usually benefits you to be up in a mobs shit rather than maintaining distance.

Although it's hard to make the connection in your head that creating distance is actually not always good.

This fight is my Pontiff Sulyvhan of Elden Ring. It is physically impossible to roll/dodge her multi attacks.

I killed 2 giant cerberus dog enemies and got a colossal sword, I had no business trying to kill those things at my shitty low level but I literally just crowded them and spammed light attack and rolled into them over and over.

I tried fighting one up and up the normal way, trying to keep distance, wait for opportunity etc and got CRUSHED. So there is defintely something to fighting enemies close.

And lol @ 18 min speedrun. I spent 18 minutes dying to a cave goblin and retreiving runes.

But I bet you had more fun dying to that cave goblin for 18 minutes then they did speed running

I'm farming runes by carrying newbs past Mogh.

Its 126k / run, with a perfect mage comet azur build most runes are over in under a minute.

I tried this then just ended up blasting her. Same with fire giant and pretty much everything else.

DPS is everything.

I am going to have a very hard time going back to any open world check mark bullshit after this.

I mean, the game is absolutely perfect.

Protip: If you are going for platinum, do not enter journey 2 unless you have gotten all the legendary ashes, talismans and arms. The two other endings are fairly easy to wreck shit (I did Ranni's first) however, I forgot some things and it's easier if you have all the sites kit up on your map and can easily traverse. I am going to have to go through Ranni;s quest again to get to the isle so I can invade the leader to get the Legendary ash out of that. Not that I mind much since Journey 2 you are pretty much a wrecking ball.

I also am going through others and seeing some things I missed in dungeons for the first time with new gameplay mechanics. It's fricken cool.

But seriously - how the hell do we ever play an open world game again dictated on POI's - this was the TRUE exploration game of "Holy shit what's that" five hours later you realize that ONE single side step brought you to bed time.

I'm still seeing people (often people who haven't even tried it) trashing Elden Ring for "inaccessibility" and having difficulty that doesn't accomodate players, and not having an easy mode. I don't get it. ER is probably the easiest Soulsborne game, and accomodates people of all skill levels pretty much. It doesn't need difficulty levels. If you're really really good, you can get through the entire game without getting hit. If you're really really bad, you can still trudge through the game via overleveling and using spells/range attacks. The only thing I'd change in the game is that Radahn is way too strong for the place he occupies in the game, but I guess they did nerf him to be in line with other midgame bosses.

When I see these complaints about Souls games, but especially ER, it's like "these people might as well be asking for the Mona Lisa to smile more"

I am quite heavily stuck on Astel, got her down to low health like 3 times but each time the game randomly decides that my dodge roll does not get to avoid the insta-kill grab attack despite working perfectly fine earlier in the fight

yeah I plat'd the game last week and I'm not sure when I'll honestly play another 100+ hour game again, its hard to ever play another Ubisoft bullshit game after Elden Ring.

On the plus side some decent stuff coming next month, Slay the Spire I've heard is a great rogue lite deck builder game and I loved Hades so that'll be a nice break from RPG/open world.

I looked at the 10 minute video for Forspoken and was just bored to death 1 min in, looks like all the same old bullshit with POIs, dumb ass quest givers, etc.
