Finally found the next grace. Godrick seems tough currently so I'm going to go farm elsewhere for a bit.

Man, trying to come up the main ramp of the castle is laughably ridiculous. I'm enjoying my first souls like. Getting my money's worth out of this steam deck now

I'm stuck at rampart tower in storm veil castle. Can't find the next touch of grace. I'm running past the knight at the bottom of the roof ladder, killing the ogre in the Great hall, and ending up in an outdoor courtyard with a million baddies. I've done this stretch like 30 times now and can't find the next godamn touch of grace

It's right past that, in a small room kind of up and to the right.

Edit: Looks like you got it. I found Godrick a huge step up in difficulty and struggled with him a lot more than most people, so I left and went back later. The fact that you can do that with pretty much anything in this game and never really be "stuck" is pretty awesome, and another reason why people whine about difficulty WAY too much. You can always go elsewhere, level up, etc and there's no reason to ever be at an impasse in Elden Ring. Most of the time when someone is, it turns out to be for some idiotic reason like that they think they have to beat the Tree Sentinel and can't continue until they do, or they're refusing to summon pets, or they're at Malenia. Lot of people seem to think the whole game is Malenia or something and don't even give it a chance because of all the whining and bitching about it being hard.

You can skip the castle and go to Liurnia. You can also run to caelid. Just grabbing ground spawn loots there you can get much more powerful items and unlock the round table hold for the smith and other vendors.

You aren't locked into the castle at all and there really isn't anything you need out of there right away. Godricks great run is good, but you're going to die so often you probably won't want to use it anyway.

I agree and remember the same happening to me, having trouble with Godrick, so I went south to Castle Morne/whatever area thats called and did that instead.

Doing that Southern area makes a lot of sense If you're new. It will provide some challenge at those lower levels but still be pretty reasonable. I fought a dragon there and that was my first boss kill where I felt like I was in control instead of just barely surviving.

That the dragon in the swamp to the south of the starting area?

Right beyond it, there's a mine dungeon with a ton of important low-level smithing components. I missed that mine on my first playthrough and went through like a third of the game with level 1 weapons because all my smithing stones were 3+. The mine is a huge resource early-on and now I always knock it out before I do much else.

The game progression is meant to be from Limgrave to Weeping Peninsula (South of Limgrave) where you level up and find better weapons, then clear out whole Peninsula, find the Uber sword in Castle Morne.

Then rest at any open area site of grace in Caelid (just east of Limgrave) so that you get an invite to Roundtable Hold. Go to RH to upgrade weapons and spirit ashes, then take on Godrick in Stormveil

Thanks for that. I didn't even know there was more to the south.

In all seriousness, I'd really advise reading too much online about ER on your first playthrough. I understand if you want to look up some stat questions or whatever (especially if this is your first "Souls" game EVER), but going into areas blind in ER is an experience you'll only get once in this game. And it's literally one of the GOATs. If I were you, I wouldn't want to spoil that experience. Half of what makes this game so amazing is said exploration.

100% this. That first run is so fucking epic in every way and looking shit up really takes the immersion away.

Just finished this tonight. 40str colossal sword? Ffffffffffffff. The pile of bodies when first entering the castle was cool. I liked that whole place.

I killed some big tree spirit thing on that south island too, next to the erdtree. It was casting some kind of magic missile barrage. Im going to have to try a caster on the next play through

This is very much a game that if the area feels too hard just go somewhere else for awhile. I personally found it you go north at the beginning of the game to margit/godrick they can easily stomp you. If you explore the continent first they are easier.

Agree with the spoilers. Game is old now so major stuff is whatever but people are telling you exactly where to go. The magic in this game is discovering that random shit by yourself.

I've always maintained if someone could beat margit they could beat the entire game, so I think you're gonna be alright.
