Yeah I actually went through, and may still be going through, post Elden Ring depression.

For me, it was the pinnacle of gaming. I hadn't experienced anything like that since I first played Pong, up until now, and unfortunately what looks like a rather bleak future for a while.

It's definitely one of those "generational" games, where you feel like you'll always be chasing that dragon, or using it as the measuring stick for an entire genre going forward.

I had that feeling with EQ, StarCraft, Diablo 2, BG2, Tribes, Battlefield: Bad Company 2, Mass Effect, etc.

Up there with Deus Ex (The OG one) and old school Sierra games for me.....I really hope they make similar titles in the near future.

I know people said not to spoil exploration but I want to help you avoid something.

Don't go to Caelid after Stormveil. I did that my first playthrough cause I thought I had to and I got so annoyed that I quit the game. It wasn't until my second playthrough a year later that I realized you should go to Liurnia after Stormveil.

I'm an idiot, though, so you've probably figured this out already.

The real advice is do go to caelid if you want. You'll learn real quick

I stomped through Limgrave, bold and brash,
Slaying trolls and talking trash.
Dodged their swings, then split their skulls,
Felt like I had Titan’s balls.

Godrick came—big, loud, obscene,
But I carved him up like fine cuisine.
Stole his rune and stood up tall,
Thinking, **hell yeah, I’ve got it all.**

Then I stepped into the real game,
Where knights move fast and dragons maim.
A bird blew up and took my head,
Some wizard sneezed—**I dropped dead.**

Rot and madness, death on death,
A bear crushed me with one breath.
Now I cower, lost and cursed—
Turns out Limgrave was just the tutorial first.

You can run around caelid and grab some really high level smithing stones very easily. Just go with zero runes there's no danger.

2 years ago pre-GPT I’d have been impressed!

I've been farming Erdtree guardians because they give about 1k runes each and there's a bunch. They always come in trios though, and they hit like a fucking truck for some reason. Do I need armor with pierce resistance or something? I can kill them easy in a few hits, but they chunk me for a ton of life when they get one through.

Trying to tailor your defense will help a small amount, but probably nothing immediately noticeable. These enemies definitely aren't linked though, you should be able to lure fewer than 3 at a time, if the numbers are your issue.
