Doom got my interest in owning a PC, but it was Daggerfall that really set me down the path of being a PC gamer.

Magician, I remember Arena! Daggerfall was great though. If I had to take a pic of games that really got me into computers and stuff that was the Ultimate series and all the SSI gold box stuff, of course along with Doom and Wolfenstein.

For you people that keep saying they want a remastered Morrowind, I played through it for the first time last year with a bunch of graphics mods and it felt up to date, not sure what I would really want out of a “remaster” beyond that

Oblivion was derivative of Morrowind and Skyrim was Oblivion's retarded cousin. One of the best gaming moments I ever had as a kid was playing Morrowind. I found the Boots of Blinding Speed that blackscreened you like EverQuest OG Blind did (why did games stop doing this!?).

I felt like the cleverest little shit when I stumbled upon the enchantment system and stripped away the blinding debuff but retained the super speed.

Add better blocking/parry combat and some other stuff. Make it look pretty. Same as Oblivion.

I feel like this would definitely be doable today based on my experience from last year, just took a few hours installing mods as usual but there are good mod lists online these days

This is about as good as Morrowind gets w/ the current system. After Oblivion I do plan to replay Morrowind w/ the mods but there is something to be said for having an authentic product rather than a crowdsourced series of fixes and upscales. Idk why.

A lot of these "passion projects" like Skyblivion and New Vegas Project_F4NV are for the modders to get jobs at different studios. Early modders did get studio jobs so now everyone is trying to do it. These guys have strung people along for years with no attention to release. Skyblivion still has no release date. I'm sure Skyblivion is different than that joke Project_F4NV and the vast majority of other guys.

I'd love to have Morrowind done by Virtuos.

I installed morrowind cuase I was waiting on the vid card, and just spent like 2 hours playing. it is surprisingly playable as is. Just some minor control issues. I think oblivion actually looked worse. lighting,etc was in a bad period..

IMO the relative isolation is more immersive. I couldn't possibly give a shit about the 10,000 other players lagging me with MTX armor while we all ignore each other doing the same NPC interactions in parallel.

That’s how I felt when I was 13 playing EQ and thus never got super into Morrowind.

I played through it last year with a bunch of graphics mods etc. and felt it was much more like reading a good book with deeper lore compared to EQ/WoW which was more like daydreaming up my own adventure/background and then finally learning the actual lore like 20 years later watching
