I think it's strictly PvP for now. During one of the talks at SoE live they said over the next month they'll be adding in the first mobs to fight.

Wonder if these mobs will use an early version of storybricks?
I would be surprised, given the lack of any mention of it and given how primitive the mobs will be. These mobs don't even appear to have full pathing: there are three or four varieties of static plant mobs and two types of floating will-o-the-wisps.

Yup they are about as simplistic mobs as you can get mainly just to test basic functionality with minimal AI and limited to no pathing.

Day 1 Landmark PVP, I really hope they tie jumping to stamina so it can't be spammed like this. Though I did enjoy the sniper in the tree aspect since you can cut the tree down if needed.

I think if the world is big enough world PVP between guilds can have actualy strategy like cutting down tree lines and digging moats.

Wow that UI looks awful. That whole gold/blue outlines and embossing look dreadful. The font is crap too. I mean it's all just really really bad.

I have to imagine all the animations, spell effects and whatever are all placeholders because they are equally awful. Honestly, it looks like an updated EQ2. What do you call updated shit?

Maybe it's that persons computer though. The demos I've seen never looked that shitty.

Landmarks alpha UI is HORRIBLE, No autojoin chat channels and terrible placement. They did say the UI is 100% temporary so I assume they will fix it eventually.

Don't know about the font choice I wont play a game that won't allow me to change my font in the files.

Edit: One cool thing I saw was he had had his staff equipped used the AE bubble thing doing a glide backflip while midair he switched to his sword and used the rush attack to get away from the people attacking him.

Kind of a taste to come if the weapon ability system if you find a class that uses Staff/Sword as his two weapons.

I was thinking this too. Darkfall on the Moon. The major differential here is that the Darkfall dev team was way smaller than this games dev team. And not well funded either.

They stated in the latest Landmark Live that they are revamping the UI; to give it a non-genre specific look and make it more intuitive.

The heroic movement is definitely staying, though I think they said that jumping/dodging will use stamina in the future. The player in the video has a belt of the zephyr, which is why he's gliding around; he likely has a double-jump item too.

And obviously the combat was just added, so some things *might* change..

Jeez, this is literally Day 1 of Combat. Show me what day 1 of alpha combat looked for Darkfall and then we can discuss it. I'm as skeptical as the next man but give it a chance before comparing it to already released games.

I have to assume that the UI is something they don't want to spend dev time polishing when the game isn't feature complete. They'd have to adjust it with each new feature they add (action bars being the most recent example). Having placeholder UI elements right next to polished UI elements would probably be worse than everything being placeholder.
