He's only stating his opinion based on what he wants. I think there is a market for traditional MMOs also. Is there a market for ball breaking, bad mechanics and asinine time sinks? No. But challenging content that isn't all solo focused and a giant loot pi?ata? Sure. We just haven't seen anyone properly execute it. Don't mistake the bad execution of games like Vanguard and Wildstar for lack of a market. It is there. FFXIV is proving that right now.I don't know why I'm constantly surprised how Tad is so constantly wrong. I mean he's being doing it for a decade, but here we are.
Funny thing, that exist in WoW, if you actually go after it.. But challenging content that isn't all solo focused and a giant loot pi?ata? Sure. .
Ugh. Don't do that. You totally ignore the whole eq universe aspect of this. Wow isn't the answer for everyone. I know that's hard to believe.Funny thing, that exist in WoW, if you actually go after it.
I think if they went with their eq3 design, used voxels on a smaller scope like for harvesting and also added storybricks, we would have had a pretty good game. Plus they would have been testing for their EQN idea.Everquest was an accident, and I don't think any developer could remake it if they tried.
I didn't ignore anything, I was merely quoting that part of his post.Ugh. Don't do that. You totally ignore the whole eq universe aspect of this. Wow isn't the answer for everyone. I know that's hard to believe.
If they're doing Freeport in Voxels then presumably they're doing the other cities in voxels.Yeah but they aren't doing kelethin in Voxels are they?
This from the guy who's been shit posting for the last umpteen pages. Awesome.I don't know why I'm constantly surprised how Tad is so constantly wrong. I mean he's being doing it for a decade, but here we are.
I could drag this out but I think you know it's a lot deeper than your example. You're just picking out one comment and ignoring all the other aspects of a game such as eq3. Ideally built around a particular play style and type of player. it's not just one thing, it's the whole game that needs to come together to get the experience that we are looking for.I didn't ignore anything, I was merely quoting that part of his post.
If anything, the usual crowd ignore things and then complain that they arn't there. But those things are still there, they just CHOOSE not to do them. Look at socialization. It's still there and very active, but a lot on this board say every mmo today is missing it. When in reality they just ignore it and choose not to socialize. The only thing that has changed is forcing things on people, instead of giving them choices and options.
Yea, but how would they keep the voxels up in the air?If they're doing Freeport in Voxels then presumably they're doing the other cities in voxels.
Magic, broYea, but how would they keep the voxels up in the air?
WoW is really only challenging at end game. I've been playing it. Some heroic raids and mythic raiding is the challenge. Doing the correct DDR move in the correct sequence. The world is not dangerous in WoW. Most people stay in their cities and garrisons and port to various dungeons. It's little more than a glorified lobby game at this point. It is one big giant loot pi?ata is it not?Funny thing, that exist in WoW, if you actually go after it.
Magic. It's all magic.Yea, but how would they keep the voxels up in the air?
I think EQN will be cool. I like the idea of collecting classes and shit.Until any indication of Daybreak, or anyone else for that matter (except Visionary Realms) have any inclination of embarking on the development of a "EQ3"-like title, discussion of the veracity of such a game is completely moot.
What we do know is that EQN, and its full voxely glory does exist, for better or worse, whether we like it or not.
I think you could if you actually realize why some things worked. A developer would have to make those decisions on what to stay true to and what to eliminate. EQ got a ton of shit right that for some reason has been discarded.Everquest was an accident, and I don't think any developer could remake it if they tried.
Was an EQ 3 really even needed? I think if they just fixed all the shit that was wrong with EQ2 then they probably wouldn't have the need to make a new version of everquest. I think an overhaul of EQ2 would have been a better option.I think EQN will be cool. I like the idea of collecting classes and shit.
I just couldn't help but wonder what if? With the recent talk of Smed and his job being on the line. Did they make the right call when they scraped eq 3? Just having a discussion.
