So after playing p99 for a week I whole heatedly change my opinion on open dungeon no instance. FUCK THAT! Fuck all the random bots camping a named spawn 24/7 all the bards pulling the whole zones for power leveling. This generation is WACK give me my fucking instances holy shit I never thought I would say that but let me away from everyone!!! The only thing thats good is being able to get a res from random ppl in zone. Or crack. Other than that.. fuck what a let down EQ is these days. Even though there is a large part of people who remind me of the old days that have gone out of their way for CR buffs and teleports. This shit is fun tho if anyones around 25 on p99 msg rolx.

Hurts because your dumb maybe, the dungeons and bot power leveling. The game is still fun in general tbh. One thing I forgot is how much they make buffs actually matter, enough to the point im willing to run across a huge zone to get crack.

You're right, my dumb does hurt when reading your posts.

But on topic: Class specific roles and buffs are a huge plus. SOW/Clarity were so fucking huge. Even as a warrior I respected the power than an enchanter and/or bard brought to the group. HP/AC buffs were awesome and helped significantly. The only reason you really understood this is because there were many times when you were lacking these buffs. While it was still possible to kill stuff, it was much less efficient. I miss these aspects or at least what these aspects required you to do to compensate.

Best of both world's voice and text, get over it Qwerty.

I'd like to see a dynamic faction system in an MMO with more GM/special events that affect how the game world is shaped. I know someone mentioned it earlier but something similar to how the there are major family houses that control regions of a continent like inA Song of Ice and Fire, would work nicely.

Have 4 or 5 major factions associated with large regions of land on a continent (maybe each faction has their own distinct landscape, like north all snowy and whatnot). Within these large regions they could have lesser factions, where their allegiance can be controlled by player actions in both PvP and PvE. Obviously, these factions which are on the boarder regions of the larger ones would be easier to affect and change who they are allied to. As they change which larger faction they are apart of, how faction is gained and loss with them also changes. Keep it very dynamic, so that let's say a group of players assassinated the leader of a town and change its allegiance, it is remembered. The town and area around it are then more likely to betray that allegiance. The opposite can happen too. Individuals, groups and guilds that repeatedly help and contribute to a faction could have access to plots of land, control over the layout of the town/keep and how its defenses are and so on.

For the large region controlling factions, being allied to one and helping them control more offers more benefits to players. Your guild helps conquer a large area of another region? The guild has control over to how that area's keep and can restrict/set KOS to other factions, allow npcs from other sub factions to reside there, change the landscape or wild creatures there and so on. Of course, players would be able to change allegiances between the larger factions via betrayal of their old one, or just helping another.

GM and special events could be happen every so often to enhance the political dynamics. Like a GM could just launch a massive attack with NPCs on an area and players can aid in the attack or help defend, and how they participate would obviously affect the outcome. Maybe give the GMs a bit of freedom so each server is a unique experience.

In essence, I just want to see an EQ style faction system where all the factions are intertwined but are also changing.

So top feature requests 1) no map 2) mumble only no text chat
No map would be awesome! Having to listen to everyone's inane jibber jabber would negate all that awesomeness -.-

Sorry man... I don't really understand why everyone hates your shit so much. I don't. *shrug*

Why would you have voice chat always on? I'm just saying add a voice chat function with private channels/tells(nice idea Tol) for those who want to use it. Don't use it if you don't want to. Simple.

The reason why this is such a stupid discussion is because SOE will put a shitty voicechat client in the fucking game because it will be on the fucking PS4. See PS2 and DCUO.

Can we go back to discussing EVE elements in EQN? Or someone defending DDR mechanics?

I really hope crafting becomes huge in EQ:N. I'm not even a tradeskill person but I'd love it if tradeskills were as in-depth as any group/raid content. I don't know how they'd do it but EVE is a good start.

Seriously.. Back to where selling bags was profitable b/c you didn't have a million of them. Tradeskills need to be top notch and a huge part of economy.

I would like maps to be gone. At least mini maps that show your exact location at all times. 10 years later I can still jump into EverQuest and know my way around multiple expansions without missing a step, but put me into Orgrimmar and I don't know where the fuck anything is except the bank and repairs.

I was running through lower guk last night and was amazed that I still instinctively knew were all the mobs spawned. Furthermore, dungeon layouts were fucking awesome in EQ, you could...and would... get so fucking lost if you either didn't know where you were going or took a wrong turn.

I think a map system like Miasmata would be cool. You start out totally blank, and then you fill it in by triangulating landmarks on your map as you explore. Everquest used to be really good about having very distinctive landmarks in every zone. Have stuff like Oasis docks, spectre tower, Qeynos gates, Karana's watchtower, EC tunnel entrance, and stuff like that be landmarks that you use to fill in a map as you go along. Potentially let mapmakers make more in depth and complicated ones.

I'm expecting:

GW2 style leveling - hopefully much better and they don't make 80% of their world useless like GW2 did
Epic quest line for each class / faction
Open factions (EQ)
Faction restricted cities / areas - return of KOS /consider
Job system (ff11 or Archage) - limited by faction / race initially and opened up via faction work
snakes will still kick

Not sure on:
PVP - I'm kind of hoping they just go full PVE. I'm tired of all the half ass PvP these PVE games try to tack on. Not sure they have the balls to do that since most every game since WoW has had it.

Not happening:
No maps, long downtime, harsh death penalties, no instancing
