Actually, this is exactly what SOE is doing wrong. We all know (if not necessarily admit) that EQN is not going to be EQ1++. Instead it will be some possibly awful combination of EQ/EVE/Minecraft/SBricks/Pizza/FreeRealms/WoW/VG and Planetside2. Folks who are hoping for EQ1++ are going to be pissed. SOE/Smed is not managing expectations correctly - just mentioning EVE once or twice doesn't really cut it. So yes, I expect some gnashing of teeth, grinding of jaws.

Couldn't agree more. They should fucking know by now that MMO's are a lot like politics and religion. People are very passionate about what they like and don't like, leaving things this fucking vague and doing a live unveil with the most passionate people isn't very wise. No matter what they unveil, people are going to be upset.

Every time i start to get my hopes up for this game I just remember that it will be out on a console and the crushes my hopes.

Consoles are great for sports games mostly and perhaps some other single player titles, but I think they kill the UI of a MMO, see DCUO.

Well said. It fucking died at birth. We sat back in 2000'-2005' and couldn't wait to see the endless possibilities to be explored in the MMO genre. Then WOW came along, made MMO's a fucking fast food industry, then every stupid fucking company out there made that the standard. The fucking lamest, most basic, bland product that could be mass produced and feed to gamers as fast as possible while making a gagizillion dollars. And every fucking investor looked at WOW's numbers and said, "10 billion a year is what we expect" and anything short of that is considered a failure. What a fucking mess.

I'll probably be pissed then - but honestly almost anything with the needle largely EQ1 way for a change would be at least worth a trial for me even if it's say 75% EQ1/25% the rest. After all to a degree EQ1 isn't even 100% EQ1 for the heyday anymore - and while it's not "the same" it's at least more tolerable than most MMOs.

I know a lot of people would like to see a EQ1 redo but I can't think of anyone that actually expects EQN to be that.

Really, who here or anywhere thinks EQN will be anything like EQ1? That's just a fantasy propped up by the cynics who want to make fun of anyone that likes EQ1. Those same cynics are the people who will be most disappointed when EQNext is revealed. For they want so badly to wallow in another's misery but it will not exist.... except in their tiny pea brains.
