If years ago someone would have asked Carmack to do a rap before revealing quake, well, you get the picture.

I think some people are more excited about hating on the game than they are about the possibility that it'll be awesome. Everyone is so pessimistic it's depressing.

Why does it seem to me that EQ1 and EQ2 may give a better showing than EQNext. I hope not...
EQ1 ... Plane of War and offering nostalgia based story lines (they have Brad on the team so his brain may be useful after all) seems like a great plan
EQ2 ... An expansion based on well-known EQ Dragons... sounds pretty good to me. If they could only clean up their abilities. Hopefully their itemization change will be a good one.
And yes.. EQ2's theme music is closer to what I would expect for EQNext. I've always thought it was awesome.

I think Ut is half right but for none of the right reasons.
My feeling is that people looking for EQ1 but with better graphics are going to be completely disappointed and will ragequit the Internet or something.
Those who want something entirely new and different (i.e. someone like me and I think a few others on this board) might be quite happy with the reveal. I think feelings about the EQN theme music separate the first from the second.
You don't need any specific information. All you need to do is take everything SOE has done in the last 10 years, then watch the keynote from last night and just imagine what this new game is going to be like. I mean you have EQ which was a successful accident. You have EQ2 which has been panned by the majority of MMO gamers (terrible combat, UI, graphics, etc.etc.). You have DCUO that launched without a function chat system, missing content, and no end game. I don't even know what Dragon Prophet is.
They also seem to love to show you all the gaming press awards they get as proof, and not sub numbers or anything. Ps2 #3 best shooter of all time according to PC Mag? Eh.
PS2 seemed to have been received pretty well by Planetside people so that is the outlier. If you think the job they did with PS2 can carry over to EQN then there is a chance, but the track records doesn't give you much to go on.

short of employing virtual reality technology, i can't think of any innovations that would make for an exciting mmo experience. the user-generated content stuff sounds totally fucking lame.
