Ya, other fantasy games didnt have Ninjas. Hell I remember when Velious came out, all the Rogues were on crack trying to get the Tower of Frozen Shadow armor for the looks! "Crystalline Shadows" stuff
Guns, ya I dont see that happening in other fantasy games either. If it was say a Blunderbuss or Flintlock maybe? But only for the pirate and tinkering thing.
RCs, I like the idea that each server players can land grab for a tent city near known future city locations and once X tent city hits X help it unlocks for an RC. Meaning like others have said, each server would unlock different locations depending on player wants.
Dave said in the keynote that your finished RC city could be taken from you and disappear. Guessing building RC cities will be a Arms Race with the local mobs. As you build, they build, dungeons will pop up and grow as a result of player building the city.
At this time the player really dont know what the end result should be but many will due to EQ1. Give that the lore is different, the timeline is WAY earlier than even EQOA at this point. There could be many different cities in many other locations that were never in old EQ1 or only as lore of long lost places.
One comes to mind is Estate of Unrest and Castle Mistmoore. You could be building up an area for the local mobs and not know it. What if Blackburrow starts as a starter city from Qeynos only to fail to the Gnolls later and those fleeing end up creating Surefall Glade. I am very interested in how they are going to pull this off.
The Witch I mentioned earlier is a good example, there are ruins there. In this game you could be someone that helped build the castle there and then later watch it fall into despair. But the bad thing is like others have said, I too think it wont be dynamic in what unlocks for only X server. I think once a server unlocks something other servers want, ppl will shift their focus to do what the unlocked server did to get it.
