Hepler didn't deserve what was dished at her. I don't think a lot of designers, programmers, directors need to be interactive with the community at all. If you like my game, buy it and if you don't then move on. Too many entitled douches out there. She was the wrong person for that job but maybe there are games out there she could be successful at. I know SF/Fantasy has had a explosion of horrible romance based novels produced in the past decade. Doesn't mean there isn't an audience or that my opinion is worth a damn. At least there are people reading that wouldn't have. Same with her opinions on games. The field has expanded and people like her might bring in a different type of gamer. Not our type but who cares in the end?

The novellas were decent and a lot of good things were in them. Huge ogres, a possible future link for Innoruuk, gnomes, compulsion spells, etc

Ogres were ok in the novel, although painted with the savage but honorable "TNG klingon" brush to put them on the good guys side. No mention of cooking dwarves. I still wish they didnt look like the orcs of various other franchises. Some more semblance to non-cursed EQ ogres would be appreciated. That said, we havent seen them in game and concept art may vary. If they go in like the look in the painting, they're orcs by another name. And the distinction between ogres and orcs is thin already.

That painting was heavily stylized. I still don't know if they will have a great look but being larger than that painting depicted is a good start. Non cursed Ogres seem to have much less 'power' than they did in the original lore but the new direction should give me the opportunity to make an ogre mage so I'm at least happy with that.

Having no info on her other then this thread she sounds like a sexist, racist, ageist, PC idiot who hates western culture, books, video games, and the mostly male players that play them.

Someone that only held a job in the industry because she lacked a penis.

You still cross a line when you threaten violence against people over a video game, but calling them assholes when there clearly being assholes is another thing entirely.

Speaking of which that Bioware writer that most everyone hates, Jennifer Hepler, just quit because of the abuse.
No,she didn't:

"Jennifer Hepler left BioWare this week to begin work on a book about narrative design and do some freelance work. Her most recent job title was senior writer on Dragon Age: Inquisition. But it was Dragon Age 2 that led to the death threats, the threats against her family and children and the harassment.

When asked if the harassment led to her depature, Hepler told Polygon "No, leaving Bioware was for family reasons. I am going to be working on a text book on narrative design among other game-related freelance projects."
At the bottom of the article, Polygon states that they added Hepler's full quote, so I'm guessing prior to that, it was vague enough to allow people to reach this conclusion, but Hepler has corrected it in a couple places and says she has no intention of leaving the game industry.

. . . a possible future link for Innoruuk . . .
This would be amazing. Having Innoruuk in as less than a god would be 1000x better than not having him in at all.

Also, where do you see the possible future? I've read a few different theories on how he could come into the lore.

The industry really needs more diversity not less. We've got plenty of games for gamers, and more always on the way.

Most industry workers spend their entire lives working and playing games to keep up with the latest stuff. If we can get outsiders in that have actual meaningful real world experiences to add, things can only get better. Me? I have no real world experiences. I worked and raided most of my life.

As a result when I start making something the first things that pop in my mind are guns, goblins, axes etc... It's what I know.

They put in Lanys T'Vyl as a leader of the Tier' Dal. A Thex prince leads this group. They are stuck somewhere with no way home. Lots of places they could go from this point. The guys at SOE want one starting area but that doesn't mean they can't add stuff later(as someone mentioned earlier).

Have we talked about how much of a bullshit cop out it is to start everyone in the same goddamn place again?
*shrug* if there's one thing I hate it's an underpopulated newbie area. If you think about it, it is the only real choice. Given the fact that their levelling scheme discourages the creation of alts, there won't be many new characters entering the world. Focusing them all in one place is not only good for the devs (less resources spent on low level content creation) it's good for the players in this instance.

Don't worry Trolls will have to go around to the alley to get their meals, they're not allowed to sit at the counter, drink out of the water fountains, and have to ride in the back of the bus. They won't experience the 1 starting city like everyone else.
