Berserker unlocked from the start really needs to be added. All of the Berserker epic 1.0 can be done with Classic/Kunark, none of it is in GoD. It'll actually get a chance to be useful in an era where it isn't immediately blown out of the water by the Tacvi axe.

9 months to PoP is way too long, though a normal server would be what, 12 months to PoP? So it's actually less. Still, can't see people enjoying 6 months sitting at level 50, then 3 months of ostensibly normal Luclin. Adding 2 levels every 4 weeks, and then like a month sitting at 60, would probably be much better for the population numbers. Plus, people could work on AAs after the first month, which would go a long way toward keeping them engaged.

Zaide Zaide might have a field day with the challenge of clearing Kunark/Velious/Luclin at 50. I was at the server first Emp Ssra at 55 on Vaniki and it was doable, extremely doable. However, level 50 removes Defensive from the equation. If they remove level requirements from gear like Vaniki did, funneling raid gear to tanks could work. If they don't remove level reqs and you're supposed to do all this in classic gear, then lol.

RI currently at the denial stage, but rest assured they will make it to acceptance within a week or two and roll there.

Unfortunately in this case a few devs listened to a few guild leaders who wanted "harder" content and though it was a good idea. These 1-2 guilds will come onto the new server just to say they did xyz that had not been done before and not play much past that.

They should have just done a Vanaki 2.0 as a 2nd server if thats what they wanted though.

It was a little over 6 months on Teek/Tormax. Aradune was the last server to do 3 months of classic and take almost a year to get to PoP.

Mischief shaved two months off by doing 1 month classic/3 months Kunark. Oakwynd and Yelinak did the same but 2/2. Then Teek/Tormax shaved another month off with 3 months of classic/Kunark combined.

They're going to use "this server is going to suck" as an excuse to duck the competition after the spanking they got on Teek.

They've got enough experience from Vaniki

that it's going to be a tough sell for anything beyond messing around at launch. If the plan is to push content (why) It's going to take even more class stacking and gear funneling than Vaniki did and that server had double loot with no level requirements. Casters could land spells without the difference in level being part of the calculation plus the level cap of mez/charm/fear/stun getting boosted by ten across the board. If the plan was to just bind rush any outdoor targets the classes with bind affinity can't land any spells. You can get really picky on targets and on raid compositions but bind rushing itself isn't fun. All of the emergent gameplay from expanded CC caps and changes to spell resistance won't exist. Every fight is going to be long and grindy as hell. On top of all that RI also were on the first server with legacy exp. A lot of people leveled a lot of characters to be able to take advantage of the bonus for AA during Luclin only to have it not work for a month.

They've made changes to TLP rulesets after the announcement before. Maybe they'll fix this one up a little bit.

To be fair they were competitive until one of their members backstabbed them and gave you their raid management tool.
Na, we got the hacked raid window they use before launch and not from one of their members. I just didn't think about it again until months later when someone in their guild mentioned how invites went out and I was like "Oh that's weird".

Well then, they were competitive when using the raid tool that FF wasn’t yet using. Hard to imagine they wouldn’t have stayed competitive if someone didn’t leak that tool, pre launch or whenever.

It's very impactful in Kunark with the weaker mobs and fast mobilization. It wasn't as relevant in Velious when it became 72 wizards, no groups or synergy required and everyone just camped at the raid mobs.

Either way, they def had their month to shine, can't deny that.

Looking Jimmy Fallon GIF by The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon

Did something happen with them, or did you just bring them up out of the blue?

I suspect a number of high-end guilds will roll up on the new one on a short-term basis to try and clear the expansions at 50.

It's going to be a clown car pile up at Kael if that happens. Encounter locks don't hold forever and you'll never bind rush down AoW before the mob goes FFA.

That's what I'm thinking, it'll be a Vaniki-style uberguild tourist server.

I love that my Bind Rush video is still getting views. It's worth noting that we were all level 40 there, not 50. At 50, Lord Yelinak wasn't that bad, surprisingly, and I suspect all of Velious will be doable (NTOV will have some trouble spots, though)

To be fair they were competitive until one of their members backstabbed them and gave you their raid management tool.

"They were competitive until they stopped having a massive advantage due to using a third-party program and had to compete on a level playing field"

But yeah, RI put up a damn good fight in Kunark.

lol @ the new ruleset. I've been advocating for a TLP to stagger the level cap increases after the content releases while also dropping the item-level reqs, but not 24 weeks of level 50 gameplay.

It's poorly thought-out which is a shame.

Wonder if they're going to extend this thought process to any later expansions, ala the staggered level caps you're talking about. Like put out SoF at level 75 and raise the cap to 80 a month later, or put out OoW at level 65, etc. Doesn't sound like it, sounds like they're only being inventive at first and then just dropping all of that to do a normal server.

Something I've been wanting for years is something like:
  • Start with Ruins of Kunark, Scars of Velious, and Shadows of Luclin unlocked and level-locked to level 20.
  • Every two weeks, the level cap is increased by 5.
  • For each expansion, level increases and Alternative Advancement points will not be available for two weeks.
  • Item recommended and required levels are reduced by ten.
  • Challenger's level-loss perk is disabled.
I think a lot of folks don't like the early level cap, but I think the concept would be interesting, just to see how people approach gearing, grouping and raiding within brief windows before the level 50 cap. It might just be pet-charm nonsense or who knows what else, but I'd kind of want to see it.

The new hotzone or whatever is a great idea, I'm curious how it'll work out in practice with the current hotzone being unknown. EQ is a social game and I'm in favor of changes to increase community interdependency.
