Didn't you fuck with your files/models for velious armor or something?

Wow, good memory, forgot about that. Yeah, that's probably what it is.

Edit: Changing eqclient back to the way it was didn't fix it, but deleting it outright and re-patching worked. So one way or another the Velious textures probably were blocking Luclin models.

New ruleset dropped.

https://www.everquest.com/news/eq-producers-letter-422025

Encounter locking, legacy characters, and this:

  • Expanded Start
    • Start with Ruins of Kunark, Scars of Velious, and Shadows of Luclin unlocked and level-locked to level 50.
    • Enjoy access to a more varied level 50 experience with Iksar and Vah Shir available on launch day!
    • Spend 24 weeks experiencing everything our first 3 expansions have to offer before the level cap is increased to 60.
    • Planes of Power unlocks 12 weeks later, followed by additional unlocks happening at the regular cadence with a compressed level 70 range.
  • Resource Hunter
    • The hunt is on for daily, zone-wide bonuses!
    • Every day at midnight Pacific, a limited number of zones in each unlocked expansion will be assigned a random bonus.
    • Find the zones to find the bonuses and share your discovery with the community!
    • Bonuses may include any of the following:
      • Increased EXP
      • Increased Loot
      • Increased AA EXP (In level 50+ zones)
      • Increased Coin Drops
      • Reduced NPC Spawn Times
      • Increased Rare NPC Spawns
      • ... and more!

LOL, this is going to be a bomb after the first few months, I think. Will be fun to see how far the try hards can push the raid scene, though.

The Resource Hunter thing sounds cool if implemented well and has been something people have asked for for a while.

They should have done something like starting at 50 and one additional level each week or two weeks to give people a carrot. 24 weeks is a lifetime for TLP players.

Bit more info:

Now that the high-level bullet points are listed. I'd like to take a moment to talk about the story behind the story with this TLP server. First off this is an experimental server, so we're trying some new things combined with some classic things and also bringing back a few of the experiments from years past.
Expanded Start. It's been a request for some years where some players wanted to have more expansions unlocked from the start (here's looking at you players that main Iskars and Vah Shir). With this year's expanded start, players will have access to more player races, locations, and tons more content with oodles of loot to obtain right from the start.
Slow Initial Unlocks. The fact is the population on every progression server declines as more and more expansions unlock. So, to keep a healthy server population for a longer period, we are extending the unlock time within some of the early expansions. We hope the slower initial progression leads to a longer, healthier progression server over the lifespan of the server.
Resource Hunter. The concept behind this ruleset is to expand the experience of hot zones to a new daily method. We hope that it will not only bring the thrill of finding new special areas but also bring the community together in the hunt. The Resource Hunter ruleset of random daily bonuses should not only encourage playing in a variety of zones and exploring more of Norrath, but also make it more rewarding to roam in different zones than you might normally on a TLP.

Encounter Locking. While it initially had some controversy, looking at the lifespan of Oakwynd it has been seen as a net good for the server. We received enough feedback and analyzed the data, and it appears to have ultimately benefited the server enough to try it again.
Legacy Characters. We're big fans of this ruleset. We tried it and we liked it overall, so we're doing it again. It will be interesting to see how it works in parallel with the Alternate Personas feature.
I forget what legacy characters are. I do like having Luclin to start, fuck EC tunnel in its spammy ear.

Yeah 6 months @ lvl 50 cap with no AAs to grind sounds kinda whack. Seems like it would be better to condense the nine month schedule into 6 months.

Resource hunter sounds cool. I've always liked the idea of Hot zones, but they come into the game so late it doesn't matter, and I don't even think they change? Which is retarded. I've never even been to a hot zone on purpose.

I forget what legacy characters are. I do like having Luclin to start, fuck EC tunnel in its spammy ear.
Me too.Maybe the Oakwynd alt bonus thing? Where every max level character on an account gives a 10% xp bonus to alts?

These people don't get it. This is going to have the exact OPPOSITE effect of what they intend.

Using this logic, why not just keep it a "classic" server FOREVER? If you never unlock expansions, the population never declines, duh!

Taking another run at some of the Oakwynd mechanics with the return of encounter locking and legacy character exp is fine. In its current form personas don't count as additional max level characters but maybe that will change now that a new server with legacy characters is on the horizon. Provided the resource hunter bonuses are big they could be pretty cool and could even impact the super sweaty launch bros.

Six months at level 50 with no incentive to take down the harder content (no Vaniki style achievements) is going to strangle this server in the crib. Bind rushing Kael is not actually a good time even if the loot is good. Luclin gear is plagued with required and recommended restrictions. Even if we suppose that a big guild is going to form that wants to do the hardest content available it's six fucking months to the first unlock. You're never going to have a force that is willing and able to clear ToV and then maintain that force. If you're just working on level appropriate content (classic, some Kunark, epics) there's not enough to do.

If they're going to lock this at 50 than it also needs to include all the Vaniki changes. The shit like -

All this junk. Without it you are going to be heavily limited in what you can even interact with.

I was on board for this until I saw 6 months of level 50. You cant even do half the raids then. Dunno what the point of this was. I could see level locking at 50 for a few months then unlocking 60. But guess thats not the plan.

It's like you took a bad Xerox of Vaniki and wiped your ass on it.

Yes hopefully they realize how disastrous it would be to not implement more Vaniki tweaks. Gear reqs and spell resists feel like a non starter.

Guys! Once you unlock more expansions, expand levels, content, etc., the population declines! With this genius idea, the population will stay...UNLIMITED!!

So no free trade? Longer expansion times? A new twist to Hot zones that kind of guarantees overcrowding? Sounds like an April Fools joke.

Also what use is it to have velious and Luclin and to a certain extent kunark unlocked from the start with a cap of lv50? so you cant do any of the good content shit there, lol.

Hot zone was the only good idea. That would make a normal TLP a lot more fun.
Hot zones are usually good. But its just fucking annoying when they put the hot zone in the most popular zone already. "Look guys! its the best exp everrrrr!~!!$" I want to do KC. I want to do OS. I want to do CoM. I want to do HS. Shit like that. Fuck, get me away from Guk for 5 fucking seconds in Classic.

But its whatever, lol. That rule set... does not seem fun in my mind.

the level 50 cap for that long is hilariously stupid, starting at luclin is unironically a great idea but like that? lmao

I am curious, it says truebox removed in pop launch. Not going relaxed, but just removed. Something that is usually done much later, TSS or TDS?

Pretty big change from the norm if taken at face value. Wonder if they realize how much populations usually drop post PoP.
