When you are addicted to crack, you will take whatever crack is put in front of you.
Also never give a crack addict a bowl of crack (aka Mischief). You have to give them one piece a day to keep stringing them along.

I had not touched EQ for over a decade before Mischief, and even that was P99. Mischief brought a LOT (a lot for EQ in 2021 to be specific) of players back to EQ and I dont know if the TLP is going to have that same pull unless it puts out the "fantasy" of casuals getting Vulak tier loot without devoting their life to the game again. Im sure that EQ capturd/recaptured a lot of people with the rule set, but I have a hard time believing that the next one will be as popular as Mischief was.

Mischief is the first TLP I have played on. And I only joined because you guys were all gung ho about POP dropping and it has FV loot rules. I am in a pretty active guild, and just got my BST completely topped off with loot. Only way I will ever do another TLP is if you have mercs from days 1. Whether that means starting from SoD or vanilla I really couldn't care less. FV loot rules preferred, but mercs really are the only way I leave Mischief short of quitting the game again.

Pretty much describes my situation as well. I plan on riding Mischief to live or until the server just gets so barren it isn't worth it. But I don't plan on touching another TLP that doesn't start with mercs in some capacity. I'd consider a Luclin+ start with Bazaar unlocked from day 1 if they had other cool shit to go with it, but there's 0 fucking way I ever do Classic - Velious start again.

Yes, it's just after the awful 70's Meleequest era, where casters can feel relevant again, it has ooc regen, a complete leveling and gearing path from 1-75, but it's not too far ahead like Miragul where people didn't recognize the game or know what to do.
2.0's are still relevant for most, if not all classes so there's some incentive to go back and do stuff like MPG trials, Anguish, DoN progression, PoR progression for 2.0's, stats, aura's, augs, unique spells etc.
And it will be new content for a large portion of the playerbase, or at least something that they only played through once before instead of 2, 3 or more times.
Mischief is a really good server though, so I'm fine with them releasing another shitty Phinny clone that keeps a large portion of the population on Mischief.

Which is exactly why the krono lords of current TLP's won't be interested. There's a reason why people keep doing the same shit over and over and over and over again. They know it inside out. They know how to create money from it. The later expansions? Not so much.

I came back for the ruleset of Mischief. I do not run every TLP unless the rule set is interesting. Selo was my first TLP. I enjoyed doing Selo because it allowed me to see a lot of the expansions I had never played on. It also helped that I got into a really good guild( /Wave Faceless) that worked with my play time. If this next TLP has a boring or repetitive ruleset, I will not bother. I think a lot of the replay comes from the Chrono farming more than the playing.

Oh, right. They did hand out a lot of suspensions including a few an hour before an expansion launch for repeat offenders. That was new, waiting until Velious was an hour away to start tossing people for a week or two.
