This actually runs really smoothly for alpha, I have a somewhat older PC but can run everything maxxed (except shadows on med/low) and get 50-60fps. It doesn't support SLI yet, hopefully that'll be fixed soon(tm).

Those buildings are amazing already. I can't motivate myself to do much with impending wipes, but maybe I'm just lazy

Good lord I am balls deep in building. This shit is way too fun - I could see losing a few days and having no idea where they went.

Claims.

As you're aware, the portal stone is not displaying all the claims you may have. If the list displays a 1 then that is definitely a 1, but a 0 may not really be a 0. We believe that most of the issues in this thread are caused by a character having a previously existing claim whose location is still unknown. Those claims are still out there, there just isn't an easy way to find them at the moment because a 0 on the portal stone may not really be true.Because those lost claims are older, players who placed a new claim on Serenity but already had an old one would have had the newer claim removed today, and that's why so many of you are reporting this issue today.

Allowing you to find your old claims is a high priority. We are already working on a permanent fix, but expect it to be several days still before it's complete; so in the short term we're going to implement a temporary solution tomorrow morning. This will require a server outage, but after the outage the portal stones should correctly display claim information. However, the fix is only temporary because new claims going forward may still not display correctly on the portal stone until the permanent fix is implemented. Once we have a more precise time for the outage we'll let you know, but probably later morning than earlier.

For those who report having both no claim and no flag, once we have the temporary fix in place we should be able to identify those people more easily.

Can someone explain to me claiming? I'm trying to claim yet i can't, my "rectangle" claim box is always red, what i find odd is that i see other claims that are HUUUUGE like giant squares which take up most of the entire map, with what looks like smaller claims like i'm trying to create near them, some are even IN these giant red X claim boxes.. what are these??

You have the claim, that is 70m x 70m x 100m, then you have the "buffer"(not sure on its size) that goes around your claim so people can't build right next to you. The latter is the huge squares you are seeing and the tiny square in each one is the actual claim. The buffers can overlap, so you can place your claim right next to a buffer and your buffer will overlap that one.

Also pay attention to elevation. Say someone puts a claim on top of a mountain, you can actually put a claim right under it. When on the map, you can use right click to move camera angle on the map to see the buffer boxes more clearly and where you might be able to fit a claim.

You basically just need a spot to fit your 70m x 70m x 100m claim into.

Cinge, McFly... I had the same problem. Had a claim on top of a mountain, great view, moved to another island and poof... claim gone.
I posted about it on the forum, went offline to go shopping, when I came back my claim had reappeared in the same location AND I had another claim flag.
Never got an answer about my forum post, it was just deleted, but I guess they did something about it.

Finally found a spot to claim, i just kept clicking on the map till i got the option and just hit yes... not a bad spot.
Can you reclaim anything you've created and placed in your claim? I spent most of my evening tonight learning the add, delete, heal and what to do with it.... made a chess wall for my "house". I can't seem to find how to unlock the add/delete from the "grid" it's a snapto at all times and it's really frustrating. Can this be turned off for more freedom?

Just wanted to add that the refund thing is for real. Submitted a ticket yesterday, got an answer today that the money will be refunded, no questions asked.

I think the game has huge potential, I enjoyed the digging for a while, but I will wait for EQnext. In the meanwhile I will enjoy the awesome that people are making from this thread!

Ugh only bad party is all the gathering, the building stuff is fun, but holy shit can I only do 1-2 hours of mining/logging before I have to log out and do something else. Was just doing saphire and it looks like rubies are going to be even worse and going to need both to try and get a good indigo axe.
Sapphie is the worst thing to mine in the game.

Sapphires only appear under Cobalt and ONLY when there is no Rubicite with the Cobalt. The same principle applies to Ruby - it only appears under Rubicite and only when there is no Cobalt with it.

The problem with Sapphire is the majority of the time you dig through Cobalt you are going to find Rubicite under it. As soon as you do you know there won't be any gems. Ruby is much easier - when you see red patches of Rubicite on the sand there won't be Cobalt under it (there might occasionally be some hidden under sand next to it.

The thing is though that Sapphire and Ruby are in very small dark patches that are very easy to miss. But if you've mind solely Rubicite or Cobalt it's there somewhere.

They are tier 4 gems as well so will be easer to find when the game has tier 4 zones. Probably be able to find areas on the ground with just the gems and no metal (seems to be the principle that at lower tiers you mainly find the gems under metal but as tiers get higher you get patches on the ground of just gems.
