One claim ? They've said casuals should be able to handle 3 or 4 easy , or did you mean something else ?

You are not limited to one claim. They are saying that 3 or 4 claims can be maintained through relatively casual play.

I think the single claim should be plenty large to do testing, though I imagine more claims will come soon after Alpha begins.

For now, I think making what you want and then saving it as a template and wiping your claim is probably the best course of action, if you want to build a ton of things right off the bat
