Srs. Game is getting way overhyped. All we'll probably be able to do is build stuff, dig for copper, then craft a pickaxe that digs for more copper. After building dicksville, people will get bored and see who can dig down the farthest. At the bottom people will lament that there isn't enough content, or digging to the bottom will cause the server to crash but SOE is gone for the weekend.

Very true.. not to down the game or anything but I really think they be expecting way too much functionality and content to be released in alpha. That's not going to happen. I'm sure we'll be able to build some stuff but I wouldn't get too excited. I'm not saying this due to it being SoE but because its alpha. I'm sure people have played games in an alpha and beta state before...

Expectations seems to be out of control.
Not even just because ALPHA. but, expectations of the final game, also seem to have insane ideas of reality and mmo simulation. Even in the hands of a competent dev studio, sky high expectations of industry revolution...
Actually, we should probably have a community event for:
-Most anatomically correct genitalia
-Most distasteful arrangement of genetalia
-Successfully getting banned or your creation deleted by SOE
That should be good for a few laughs.

The people on those alpha forums are a special kind of ridiculous.

He better have added a layer of the original song into what he released at Fan Faire.... it sounded cool and i'm sure he's a quality, top notch guy but come on. EQ has pretty notable music in the genre.

You will be able to buy/sell materials you gather. As well as designs that you make and /save.
Do not expect this to be in the alpha any time soon. (could be. but I doubt that is something that would be implemented very early.)

There's water in Planetside2. I think the snag they are on is how water should be treated as a voxel and not just zone art.
