So. I'm 50% set on trying out the alpha. But help me understand - as a dude who never played Minecraft - what is the point of this game?

So I'm going to guess that email invites/account flag waves are in order or purchase date ? I noted the Ten Tom article said you can buy it today but likely won't get in until tomorrow if you do.
