Here is a pretty cool mod for people who like Settlement building...retractable walkways, drawbridges, and elevators

You're right. But the way he talked about his "qualified success" makes it sound more hopeful than it should be.

I also never understood how it got the FEV anyway. Was it a lab accident? self injection?
You could always power fist him in the face to ensure that never happens.

Here's some screens from my latest unarmed playthrough...it was pretty fun but DEFINITELY lacking in the weapons department. I only ever found an armor piercing boxing glove legendary. I was also really disappointed that unarmed in power armor wasn't nearly as good as a regular deathclaw gauntlet.

Been catching up on MxR mods and noticed Week 5 had quite a few that seem like essentials for settlements (Scrap scrap [yay!], place in red, simple intersections(

Some settlement mods can seriously fuck up your game, so beware. Basically, if it edits a cell directly, that's a huge NOPE and something people should not be attempting to do until the GECK is out. Pretty sure Scrap Scrap is one of the ones that should be avoided.

I tried Simple Intersections, doesn't really work. If you really want freedom to place shit exactly where you want, you need to use the console directly.

Yeah unfortunately those Scrap Scrap mods can lead to all sorts of strange side effects. Sprint could stop working in settlements (or everywhere?), power armor/containers can reset or disappear, and you can get visual bugs where objects appear and disappear constantly. Keep a save backup if you experiment. A similar mod to Scrap Scrap (here:Spring Cleaning at Fallout 4 Nexus - Mods and community) has good explanations of cell reset problems.

These are my 2 new favorite mods because I hate vague descriptions for Weapons and Armor mods:
Better Weapon Mod Descriptions at Fallout 4 Nexus - Mods and community

Finished 1st (probably only) run through on Xbox One sided with Brotherhood of Steel. Logged out in Sanctuary near the main house where I put Dogmeat's dog house. Can't remember a game in a looong time where I actually cared where I logged out.

Great game but, as many mentioned, story is disappoint. Mainly:

- dumb that I have to annihilate 2 other factions to get any ending

- they made the BOS a bunch of fascist genocidal killers, I never saw that in any of the original games

- compounding on the two points above, it was dumb that to get the BOS ending, you had to kill the Railroad. The lame excuse was "they may be a threat in the future, so go kill them"

Reddit thread discussing the minutemen, linked to this great article on DMing. I think this does really nail, where FO4 falls flat with its story/design.
tl,dr. if the PC is the only competent person in the universe, the PC will be actively hostile to everyone/thing else.

It might be interesting to have a Fallout game set in Europe with a whole different take on post apocalyptic survival where the BOS haven't been seen or heard from, but they have a serious problem with being overrun by forces from an empire based in Africa (where things for the past 200 years have been less terrible owing to little to no actual direct effect from the nukes due to a lack of strategic targets).

I could maybe see the next one in Chicago. You're midway between the East and West coasts that way, which lets them craft something a little removed from both.

I would love to see a NYC one, but that would be pretty ambitious. However, it is midway between DC and Boston, so to speak. If they did "Institute wins" as the official ending, then New York could serve as a possible flashpoint between the BoS and Institute.

I'm almost ready for a reboot really.

In a perfect world there would be 2 Fallout type games getting released on alternating time frames so we didn't such a long wait. First being what we have now. Second being a completely different IP with roots in the post apocalyptic world but with different story arc. Maybe one being a little more focused on survival with the other being more traditional fallout.

I wouldnt mind one that tones down the parody/1950s elements and is a bit more realistic. I get the idea they are going for but it always kind of bugs me with the whole "stuck in 1950s due to no transistors" but they have robots, energy weapons, power armor etc.

I want more guns. Can't wait for some of the modders to fully flesh out my arsenal with some cool shit, especially if they put in as much or more weapon mod detail as the base game does per gun. When is the GECK due out again?

They did eventually invent the transistor, but it wasn't until the 2040s or 2060s or whatever. That is why the Pipboy and what have are you considered bleeding edge tech, even though they are basically early 1980s style PCs

The 1950s style was due to cultural stagnation, which isn't necessarily because of the lack of transistor.
