And you don't even have to suspend disbelief when the dumb bitch was walking down the middle of the road with her headphones blasting.

Given how often I see this, that was a very realistic part of the episode ;p

Jeeeeeesus. This show is bad

"If something was happening the Authorities would have told us"

So the zombie apocalypse hit all the social media servers first? The acting is shit too. No one seems to have a strong reaction towards anything besides slowing walking towards obvious danger. "What the hell is happening" is delivered like "Well, huh..."

They don't know it's a Zombie apocalypse. As far as they're concerned, the police are picking on innocent people. The news has us in that mindset after Fergison among others.

There's no such thing as a "zombie" in that reality. People coming back from the dead isn't even a fantasy. These people are sick, and that's all.

Not to beat a dead horse, but I think going out of their way to be true to our real-world late 2000's setting (first generation iphones, etc) and giving the characters no concept of a "zombie" is extremely jarring (not to mention very weak writing). Why not change the setting to something at least a little foreign? Little things like seeing a "Revenge of the Jedi" (the alternate name for Return of the Jedi) re-release playing in theaters that let's us know that this is very similar to our reality, but different in subtle ways, would be perfect imo. Those of you who have played Bioshock Infinite know what I'm talking about.

Also good thing that crammed in as many interracial relationships as possible to try and get praise from the SJWs...until the first time a white girl gets raped/mutilated.

It is funny that Cliff Curtis has success getting jobs in Hollywood as a latin background character. Considering he is from new zealand.

The most famous actor playing a Native American (Iron Eyes Cody) is an Italian. It isn't anything new.

So after the first episode people are upset that the killing and blood and shit doesn't effect the parents. This episode Mom goes all ham on her buddy and fucking annihilates his skull with a fire extinguisher and people are upset she jetted out of the school instead of getting the food? She was in serious shock for the rest of the episode. I'm sure after the kid shit his pants and she had to kill her friend they just wanted to get the fuck out. Some times in life people aren't rational.

Show was pretty good again tonight. I generally hate origin stories, but seeing event 1 lead to event 2, ect and knowing the big picture has me intrigued. Also, the actors they have on the show are pretty good, whereas the actors they started with in WD season 1 were Lifetime/Sci-fi channel washouts at best.

Show isn't phenomenal, but I think its pretty solid. Will still never understand how they think things like "massive military presence appears out of nowhere just in time to save someone" are going to be plausible, but overall, I like the pacing. Definitely doing a good job of showing how different people can act in the face of the same circumstances.

Waiting for the dumb teenager to run off to zombie boyfriend thus driving a parental rescue mission. Probably leads to the first main character death too.

I'm loving it just for the fact that outside of World War Z, no other zombie show has focused on the initial outbreak itself for a substantial portion of time. I've never seen Z-Nation, so I'm ignorant to whether they did or not. I much rather this aspect than TWD's.

I'm kind of meh about the show. Last night's episode felt like very little actually occurred. My favorite part was how every car was turned over and on fire except the their truck which had magical plot armor making it bullet proof, fire retardant and extra stable.

I agree with this a lot. The collapse of society during a zombie outbreak is a really interesting storyline that hasn't been as played out as you might think. In movies like Dawn of the Dead, they don't show any of it. In World War Z (the movie), it happens so fast.

Heck, I even find elements of the move Blindness interesting because you see some of impacts on society and people.... including how thin the vale of social control really is.

Regarding the nature of the zombie virus, FTWD does raise some interesting questions. Is it the mysterious flu-like illness that gives you the disease, then you turn when you die? That seems to be what happened to the neighbor (the man they shot in the face) right? He didn't seem to have any bites, but was seen coughing in episode 2.

I believe that TWD cannon tells you that the zombie bite has nothing to do with transformation, but rather it causes sepsis and death from infection. To me, that seems even more absurd in the early part of the epidemic because a.) freshly turned walkers would have the same bacteria in their mouths that humans have and b.) sepsis could easily be averted with rapid and aggressive treatment with antibiotics while the hospitals were still up and running.

I guess my gripe is that while the nature of the disease doesn't need to be that clear, it also shouldn't come across as unnecessarily contrived.
