Is there a reason people are playing on Nox and not on you know, their mobile?

I far prefer to play games on a PC with a large screen, and much superior controls instead of playing on a tiny 5 inch screen with touch controls. Just a preference thing though, if you prefer it on a mobile device, that's certainly an option too!

As for event items, there's only been three items from events that matter.

Gravity rod (was barely an upgrade on release, and it's obsolete soon with tomorows rod and the trial rod soon after)
Shining Splendor (the event it comes from repeats, farm it next rotation)
Lunar Mace (this one is good for a few specific characters like CoD, but better replacements are coming)

Not going to start playing. If you aren't in from the beginning with these kinds of games you miss stuff that becomes essential later. Fun to read your thread though.

*edit* I just checked. Of the events so far, only 2 of them had BIS items. The Gravity Rod which is a little better than the best craftable rod, and the Lunar Pestle is the best mace, except there is only 1 top tier unit that uses it, and you can get better from a TM reward. Pestle would have been much easier, but it's not the best.

The best non TM reward katana comes from the current event, but it's not that much better Murasame and I might have enough currency to get it for you anyway if Nox works tomorrow, don't know how much auracite I had before the last patch.

Some people use Nox for macroing. I was using Nox for my alt account, you can't switch back and forth on the same device unless they're both linked to a FB account. My alt account is unlinked so I can give it to someone.

The battery drain is pretty major issue too. Plus my phone is in an OtterBox and it gets really hot after a while.

Back on the colosseum topic, can anyone else with Tellah confirm that putting him in position 2 with Siren as his Esper guarantees a Death roll from Recall on turn 1? I've changed position and esper and the spell changed, but equipment/materia doesn't seem to affect the seed at all. Now I'm curious if it's the same for everyone. I'm also trying to figure out a combination that results in Meteor on turn 1, but no success so far.

I think Sean was saying something about getting Death on turn 2 every time, or almost every time, I'll ask him.

I'm actually doing full xp runs on earth shrine exploration because I need the damn 1* awaken mats.

I put Tellah in my colosseum party for S-4 trash, and of the 10 waves, he used death from recall on 9/10 (slot 3, esper diabolos). One wave he used Aeroga from recall, which was curious. On turns 2 or 3, recall would always do Aeroga or Bio. That's all he cast the whole time, so there's definitely something funky going on with their RNG, but I can't explain it. Now that I'm clearing trash in S-5, I'm using a 5x mage thunderga chain party since it 1-2 shots the robots, so no more death for Tellah!

Funny note, I never got the double wyvern pack in all 10 trash waves of S-4 colo, so I guess I'll have to see them when I re-run it for farming mats.

Turn 2 has always been actually random for me. I get Bio or Aeroga almost always, with Meteor and Death being extremely rare, and I don't think I've ever seen it cast Stone. It's only turn 1 where I've been able to force the Death seed 100% of the time. It affects other things too; like a couple months ago I had Lasswell with 100% Bio Blaster poison success on turn 1, while Edgar would fail to land it every time.

Double wyrms weren't as bad as people on reddit were saying. I got them two or three times and killed them in 2 turns even though they are immune to Death. As long as you're using a burst damage team and not something bogged down with tank and healer you should be fine.

Well, beat Europa by being lazy and just copying the setup Vorph posted with some small tweaks. Agrias tank with lightning immunity, provoke, and mirage made her evade the majority of the bosses damage, which let the rest of the team just pluck away at his health. Now to re-farm the last few ranks to make a blood sword. 72 atk on blood sword seems underwhelming when compared to all the other free weapons we've been given (enhancer, shining splendor, chirijaeden) but since it only really takes arena orbs to craft, which aren't being used for anything else, I may as well.

It's a little better than that (76 ATK) and the Drainer ability sounds pretty decent. It works with dual wield too.

I'm really sick of trying to farm lumber for Shining Splendor #2, so I'll be glad to have it. Been doing earth shrine explores for the daily quest for weeks now and I'm averaging like 3-4 lumber per clear which is going to take forever. Not looking forward to redoing S-4 though. Saving that shit for last because I feel like the Frost Dragon fight will go horribly wrong if it ever decides to use AE confuse.

Decided to try out MEmu's video capture on my third kill:
Should have been only three turns... :( BTW I saw on someone else's video that Full Break does land about as well as it does on the other partially resistant bosses.

I had assumed pro awakening was just going to be a timesink for the new 5* mats, but it seems like it's a pretty good source of holy/sacred crystals too.

Good to know. Need a ton of sacreds and all mats for my Kain 5* and Cecil 6*. You can get 6* mats from it, right?

It might be better than ADV for holy though, since there's less of a NRG difference. Really wish they'd just give us labyrinth stage 2 so we could be swimming in sacred crystals and never have to worry about them again.

Maybe, maybe not. Seems like I've gotten at least one sacred from every pro run, whereas I can sometimes go 3-4 runs of int without a single sacred. I guess I should start keeping count of the sacreds I pull.

But if every new 5* awaken is only going to need one of the new mats x5, it certainly won't take much pro running to be able to do every new 5* awaken as soon as it comes out.

Also fuck sacred crystals. Have a decent amount of 3* and 4* units to awaken and I have a total of 3 sacreds right now and 68 holys

Thief Bracer is compensation for the earth key collection giving a nerfed Holy Lance by mistake. They took away the Holy Lance and mailed the Thief Bracer that we were supposed to have gotten. Holy Lance will probably return at full strength (80ATK instead of the 60ATK we had) on a later moogle vendor for 100 quartz.

Looks like the next event after FFIV will be a Halloween one and they're adding reskinned versions of the story units sort of like the JP beach event: Demon Rain, Dracu Lasswell, White Witch Fina and Black Cat Lid. Rain and Lasswell are 5* base, so that's right out, but Fina is 4* that awakens to 6*. If she's the white mage equivalent of Majin Fina/Summer Majin Fina she'll immediately become the best healer in the game. Lid's a 3-5* that probably sucks as much as original Lid.

Halloween materia are interesting too. One is +13% MP/HP, the other is +13% ATK/MAG. My gut feeling says they probably won't let us craft 20 of the second one though. :(

If Gumi stays true to their tradition, the global exclusive units will be very overpowered compared to the normal units from Japan, but I guess we have to wait and see.

I have one or two 6* lightnings on my list with barrage, I'm guessing that's my only shot at clearing the highest difficulty exploration.

Although one thing is pretty funny. Just like in FF4, looks like I can have Kain jump to dodge Binding Cold, so I won't have to bother with anti-paralysis gear.
