Onion Knight Banner is questionable, it's literally one item which upgrades Ramza/Shout from the worst on your team to the best. Ramza does shit DPS compared to BSB users like Cecil/Faris/Cloud so having Onion Knight with chain casting and enabling magic on your Shout team will be great.
FF14 is stupid. Stoneskin Healer BSB, Guts, Radiant Shield, Wall. Two of the consolation prizes are BSBs! We need Guts and maybe Radient Shield to beat "unbeatable" Omega superboss in about 5 months.
I've got just over 100 Mythril saved. I figure I'll pull once or twice on the III banner for synergy if nothing else. It's one of my worst realms for the obvious reason that we don't see it very often. The XIV banner is absolutely bonkers. My Japan account pulled Y'shtola's BSB and it is insanely good.
OSB banner doesn't interest me right now since I've pulled Cloud's and Tidus's already. I'm sure there will be good stuff to pull there but I'm pretty stacked right now.
FF4 ultimates are out. It's amusing, because I have a ton of physical synergy for FF4, and no magic synergy (except Edwards harp), yet I went with a mostly magical team for the cid mission.
For Flan Master cid mission, I went full glass cannon, which worked for mastery, but was ultra close. Cecil taunted then did his BSB, and Rydia & Palom used Ashe's BSB as a RW, and spammed the aoe burst commands. Edward did mage shout, and Rosa healed. I won, but but it was close as hell. If Rosa had a medica, it wouldn't have been so bad, but no medica meant she couldn't keep up with aoe healing, and there were deaths. In hindsight, I should have had Cecil in the backrow with Draw fire + Curaja, and double healered it. The mages with the BSB commands were plenty of dps on their own without Cecil helping. Even so, I beat it first try, so whatever.
The Calcabrina fight I basically did a similiar strategy. Full glass cannon, blow them all up before dying (and before they could go super mode). Beatrix BSB for aoe dps + imperil holy, Cecil BSB for holy synergy nuking, Terra BSB for just some extra dps + summoning aoe (and Lightning for medals), Ramza for shout then.... yeah that's about all he did. Lenna did aoe magic break dance then healed. Once again, I had deaths because glass cannon and all, but it worked for another one shot victory.
Setups I used:
Flan CM:
Cecil -- Saint's Cross, Draw Fire -- Holy BSB
Palom -- Ashe BSB RW
Rydia -- Ashe BSB RW
Edward -- Fullbreak, Bard Protectga -- Song of Swiftness (+30% mag and hastega)
Rosa -- Curaja, Shellga -- no sb
RW: Ashe BSB (Dusk's Decree)
I had a single doll alive with a sliver of health left when she "merged." One auto attack would have killed it. The Calcabrina wasn't too hard though since only one was alive. I didn't have any trouble finishing it off. This was one of the easier U++ fights.
I hated the slime boss when I did it 6 months ago on Japan and hated it just as much here. I took the exact opposite approach of Sinzar
and went full mitigation and worked them down one at a time. With everything up, including Wall from a RW, nothing hurt too badly.
Used Sheep Song a few times for all the ultimates. U++ was just AE nuked down using Krile (Bahamut / Ixion), Golbez (Meteor) and Edge (Swift Bolt) with P.Cecil using Draw Fire / Magic Lure + Reflect. Bahamut has been an MVP for me in recent events, huge damage even at R3, will definitely R4 him since i doubt I'll pull the right relics for Titan or the other one. I did have to reforge some 3*++ magic rods to give the extra boost, which had a pretty big impact (I think bahamut did like 3k more damage per use).
U+ was took a few S/L but with Lightning Dive and Ixion coupled with Breakdowns and Draw Fire on P.Cecil worked out just fine.
Multiplayer coming out later! Hope it goes smoothly and we should try to get a party going at some point (so you guys can see how noob I am).
Well, the raids are really fun, but also have it's share of downsides.
For one, even though they're extremely trivial, I actually missed mastery on two different ifrit attempts because PuG's ignored the nail, so dummies are of course going to happen. It also gets a little dull waiting through a limit break animation every other action for 8 members on the team. There were some lag problems too.
Even with the above problems, I love the addition and look forward to it releasing for real. I originally went in with:
Vaan -- lifesiphon, power breakdown -- BSB
Vanille -- curaja, shellga -- ether medica
except it seemed like no one was running shout (at least in the randoms I joined) and everyone had a healer, so groups tended to be 4 dps and 4 healers, lol. I swapped Vanille to Ramza using shout, FB, and LS for the last two ifrit difficulties.
Is 160 difficulty as high as MP raids go? Because Ifrit 160 was easy as shit with every debuff in the game stacked on him + 3 healers spamming medicas / blinks.
This. I'm having a blast but it's really hard to coordinate and decide what to do with the UI not reflecting your changes, even on your own screen. Also having it not gated is an odd choice cause you get some really unprepared people joining the harder raids... I can imagine once we hit the serious stuff it'll probably change.
Also been getting a few crashes on my new iPad so there seems to be some memory leaks somewhere. Pretty excited once they up the raid difficulty. My usual team for Ifrit is:
Beatrix: Life Siphon / Shellga or Protectga or Arise (with MBlink SSB)
Faris: Thief's Raid / Mug Bloodlust (BSSB, Mako Might)
Sometimes I need to swap out Faris for Ramza / Y'sholta but when it doesn't reflect i just go fuck it and start .
So tonight's banner features the most hyped item since Platinum Sword: Onion Knight's gauntlets.
I'll do a pull or two trying for some III synergy but, in my opinion, the gauntlets aren't necessary. I won't go so far as to say they are overhyped but you do not need them. I've been slacking on my Japan account recently but I've had no issues clearing U++ bosses with an A-Team that doesn't include the gauntlets. So pull for them if you want but don't go too crazy since III is such a rare realm that synergy isn't relevant very often.
Also, I'm sure most of you keep up with Reddit and news but just in case: Starting tomorrow we will be receiving 5 Mythril every day for 10 days (50 total Mythril). Also on Friday (Black Friday here in the U.S.) we are getting a Lucky Draw that only has BSBs and OSBs in it. Nobody knows the exact format yet but I'd be shocked if it was anything other than a one time pull for 25 Mythril. But I'll hang onto 50 Mythril just in case. There is simply no reason to skip this banner. It's the best LD we have ever gotten. Some people will bomb on it but at least one BSB guaranteed is too good to pass up. Personally I'd even be happy with Yuna's guns even though they suck. I'd rather have those than a dupe. I'm at 6 BSBs and both OSBs so chances of a dupe aren't high but the odds aren't insignificant either.
The more I think about it the more I think I'm going to pass on these III banners. OK's gauntlets are the grand prize but, like I said, you don't need the, to clear content if the rest of your team is solid. And the rest of the banner is pretty meh.
I'm doing at least two pulls here. I want the bsb, of course, but there's a few other things I wouldn't mind having.
Luneth's BSB is decent for dps, since I have a 6* +wind dps armor (Bartz' Cloak), so when combined with the spear itself (also +wind), during his bsb his command 1 would be a 3.7x damage 4 hit attack (total of +90% wind synergy), and you can do extreme +atk stacking with his command 2. Minimal utility though.
Arc's medica robe happens to also be a +holy synergy robe. I have a 6* physician's staff (also +holy synergy), so combined they let me run a white mage holy nuker at +40% holy synergy. That's something I like to do on occasion when I need to bring Yshtola for wall, but also need a medica on a real healer, or maybe Selphie's weird bsb for buffs/dps. It's not a bad medica all on it's own either, and I only own 2 medicas total across all realms, so more is good.
Onion's SSB is a decent consolation prize, offering a very strong -50% def/res debuff 8.2x nuking sbb. It could turn OK into one of your main physical damage dealers if you whiff on his support bsb.
Don't! I only have a crappy V wind dagger but holy armour is appealing. I don't need reasons to pull! I may end up doing one just to pass the CM and Mote Dungeon.
