Ugh. That news sucks. Right now it sounds like it could go either way. The wording implies that it will continue since it's a collaboration but until we get firm details I'm prepared to be disappointed. This has, easily, been my favorite pastime for the past year and a half so I'm hoping it stays intact.

Seriously, other than WoW I play this game more than anything else and it's such a crazy habit for me now that I'm going to be crushed if it gets shut down. None of these other collect and level games ever really did it for me as they usually have some weird feeding way of leveling that I'm not a fan of, like PAD. Is there anything else out there that's really similar to FFRK's rpgish style?

FFBE is similar but it's a character gatcha filled with original characters with an insane grind. Mobius FF is better maybe try that. If anyone knows non character gatcha RPG games please tell me.

Discussion on reddit is sounding like although WE call it the "global" version this game is likely totally made in Japan and unconnected to dena global. The tanslation of strings is likely outsourced with the Japanese devs implementing them and a Japanese graphic designer just copying English words he doesn't understand for the banners. We should be ok.

New nightmare boss seems dumb. Diaga from a white mage with around 700 mind (after RM) hits it for like 3k.

Edit: Well, I guess the reason it seems retarded is the way you supposedly beat the boss is by using ninja magic (that ignores his 999999999 resist) and just heal through the counterattacks since you're doing the fight the "wrong" way. Bad design imo, not a fan of this encounter.

Beat FF9 CM, 4 hit RW BSB commands like Hope and Vivi are OP. Did 9999x4 per turn to phase 2. Much S/L.

Wrong again. When the cannon puts a target on a character, if you attack the boss with that character, the target moves to the boss and it does 9999 to itself. You have to do it 14 times, more if you kill the launchers and less if you use your own damage.

I missed that and used summons but I ran out of hones 1/3rd into the battle. Just bring heals and maybe Diaga for launchers. Haven't had time to try again but Tyro may be getting Wrath lol.

FFRK customer service posted that the game will continue as normal so make of that what you will. I expect both versions are made in Japan, even the customer service posts look like they are probably through a translator.

Been ignoring this for the most part except minor mithril farming (so I gotta get my ass in gear so I can do the nightmare lucky draw)... what strategy should I be doing for Ultimate?

Here's my party:
Bartz - Lifesiphone+Fira Strike / Attunement 2 RM / BSB + SSB
Jecht - Full Charge + Life Siphon / Battleforged RM / Boostga
Aerith - Shellga + Curaja / Cetera's Destiny RM / Medica
Faris - Full Break R2 + Dismissal / Dr Mog's Teachings / BSB + Shared cura medica
PCecil - Protectga + Saint Cross R1 / Mako Might / BSB + SSB

I took a Calamity Strike OSB for the sheer damage thinking that would help... it didn't. I'm thinking either I need to drop Jecht and take a Shout RW or take a wall RW and just facetank.

I'm REALLY liking Faris and the BSB, though does it stack with Full break (and further, do the BSB command stack with the BSB and Fullbreak)? I feel like I'm missing out because I don't have hastega in here, but I'm not sure how to fit in my two hastega characters (Edea or Kefka).

Chris Chris yeah, I realize now the fight is kind of a gimmick, which I guess isn't bad once you know what's going on. I went in and tried to fight the boss using white mage nukes (kind of like the first white mage dungeon) and realized really quickly that was like slamming my fist against a brick wall. I'll re-evaluate the team and try to do it using the cannon thing (I killed the cannon right away in my previous attempts since I read it 1 shots you.... guess that's why I couldn't do any damage).

In other news, I did manage to finish up and master the summoner and support nightmares, which means I'm now all caught up on nightmare dungeons except the latest.

Super glad to hear the game's gonna continue on, it would have been missed.

The Nightmare fight is dumb but I just beat it with mastery.

If you have the hones I think it's best to just brute force it. The hot potato gimmick is extremely annoying when you transfer 3 stacks onto the boss and it immediately retaliates to put those stacks back onto you and fires immediately after that. All in the space of half a second.

I did a hybrid method where I used the mechanic in phase 1 and part of phase 2 and then went all out offense at the end. I lost one person due to bad RNG but finished it off. Tyro with ninja magic was my primary damage source. The counters did nothing with shell and wall up. In the end it still took quite a few attempts and I had to hone some junk I wouldn't normally have done. But it's dead and I can move on. I don't think any of the remaining Nightmares are quite so gimmicky.

I spent an hour working on the boss the "proper" way, but I'm done trying. That fight is just dumb, as has been said a few times now. It's not fun or interesting in the least when it randomly decides to swap around that target thing at the last second. I don't have the hones to cheese it with ninja magic, and don't feel like dumping orbs on it right now. I'll come back with onion knight and beat it with his 214 base magic stat and ninja spells.

So I didn't have enough ninja hones to equip a team of ninjas, so I figured what the hell, why not just use a blackmage instead. I go in, pure YOLO style completely ignoring all of the mechanics, and win first try with mastery. Vanille's ether medica + lionheart materia was a perfect combo to keep the team healed through all the counters + refilling everyones spells. That cannon is cancer, and wasn't used a single time.

Now I feel foolish for wasting so much time trying to do the fight properly, but I'm with Angelwatch and just glad it's over.

Got it to 33%, fight isn't as hard as you think but it does take practice and relearning the game.

Defend, only attack when it's targeting, count 8 rotations of the target graphic, P1 is the slowest and hardest, it do 9999x3 to itself at the end, no aoe at all since damaged cannon hits for less.

Yea I took a look at the hot potatos game, decided nyeh and brute forced it with summons and ninja spells. Bahamut with Sheep Song did 4500x2 and Tyro with Gust and +wind did ~5.9k. Did run out of hones so was lucky that I had Vanile's SSB which recharged an ability... which fortunately went to Bahamut twice.

I ran Tyro and Ramza ninjas with Selphie BWB RW and I had way too many heals on tap. Fight still took forever - I used 14-16 ninja scrolls plus SB casts.

Mastered Hot Potato. Main difficulty is the length of the fight I think since its brutal to retry it.

For timing count 6-8 rotations of the target animation. I usually did 7. It's hard to fit 3 casts into that window so start casting at 6 for two and pass them all to one character for three.

This was one of the easier sets of Ultimates. Probably because II is a very uncommon realm and they know our synergy stinks.

Lamia Queen wasn't hard at all for the CM. I did it with my A-Team first and then went back with a CM team. There are two things that can make an Ultimate a lot easier. The first is a very exploitable weakness (Fire or Holy for example). The second is when all of their attacks are of one type. Lamia Queen falls in the second category. She doesn't have a single magic attack so you just load up on physical mitigation and you're good to go.

I'm sure my II synergy is better than a lot of peoples but it's not good compared to other realms. I have Minwu's Instant Group Curaga from the heal banner a couple months back, Leon's Golden Armor from last years Black Friday Lucky Draw and a Wing Sword ++. My team was Firion, Minwu, Gordon, Maria and Leon. With Protectga, Full Break, Power Breakdown and Hand of the Emperor the Queen wasn't hitting very hard at all. Just make sure to pass out Lifesiphons since they never miss even with her Blink giving her stupidly high EVA. The end of the fight was really annoying when she kept landing sleeps and confuses on my primary damage dealers but I eventually was able to get her dead.

Use Wakka's chance of full ATB at start of battle RM (Preemptive Strike) on Minwu to cast Reflect on Lamia before she can buff her evasion. She still has high evasion but it makes the battle much easier and less annoying. Curaja and shared SB AoE Cure was enough for healing.

Use Draw Fire on a back row Leon with a Bow and +defense/attack/regen RM to soak up much of the damage. He can Lifesiphon too which can't miss.

Ingus is a support who can use Protega and Full Break.

Josef had a buff and is now Support 4 for Armor and Power Breakdown.

For your last use your best DPS, I had Leila with Theif Raid.

Hopefully the FF2 Mote CM is just as easy.

Yea I went with Dark Mage Leon and with Josef Running Pound and Magic Breakdown... I actually ran both Shellga and Protectga cause I didn't read her abilities correctly (I always assume magic), but she still hit like a pansy with just Protectga and Full Break. That said she does have irritating abilities so be prepared.

Took a look at the U++ and FF2 cast, figured there's no clear cut way to run it with a FF2 crew (which lacks dances, summons and my crappy relics), so I just went mage meta with summons + double dances and that did the trick for the most part. One of the horses actually has more HP than the other 3 so it may make sense to bring at least 1 single target least you waste 2 extra AE's on him.

The U++ doesn't have a CM associated with it so you can beat it with whatever team works best for you.

My team was:
Rikku: Multi-Break and the Attack Down
Minwu for healing and Protectga
Yuna: Alexander and Diaga since weak to Holy
Terra: Meteor and Waterja
Krile: Ruinga and Chain Firaga

It was pretty easy. Again they are only physical so you can mitigate a ton. Just AOE the waves down and burst the last knight.

I went all in on my chain Firaga. It's rank 4 --and I wish I could get it to 5. But I have lots of Fire enhancing relics so it hits like a truck. I'll need to get chain ice to rank 3 at some point but it's going to take the next Orbfest to do(hopefully this month because this one is awesome).

I skipped the CM because my entire FF2 cast is level one. The Ultimate++ though was super easy, even with zero FF2 relics. Cecil, Beatrix, and Ramza all brought their BSB, which are each an AoE holy nuke. It kind of melted the knights instantly, and with Tyro using dance and wall, and Ramza bsb's stacking def buff, they dealt almost no damage to my team.

I used this latest MC3 to break Ramza. His lvl 99 RM is kind of worthless, but I have all of Ramza's relics, which means he fits perfectly into a physical team (shout), or a mage team (support + medica). Also, Ramza's the best ninja in the game (highest magic of all ninjas until onion knight at level 99) and lately I've been falling back on ninja nukes for quite a few fights, so he can fill that role way better than Tyro.

If there's time I like to do all the tougher fights using realm based team, just makes it a bit more interesting and thematic to me. That said in some instances it's just overly difficult or I need wall and haste/boostga. FF2 is actually one of the worst culprits with uninteresting characters - no dancer, summoner, proper dark mage, mechanist, Samurai (unless you count diving Firion for 6* lol).

I'm still holding on to 2 MC3 crystals after maxing Luneth, can't decide who to break. Likely will just cave and break Cloud and Vaan for their MC3 which should give the highest attack boost, double so if I can pull Vaan's BSSB (HAH!).
