The original is still sort in the game, so to speak. When you run into the thieves on the way to Wall Market, it's the original theme redone. Then there is the EDM remix fight music which I like. The actual music in Wall Market in the remake isn't as good, though

Play the 2.0 brave new world mod, it makes the game a lot better. Significantly improves character customization and combat.

Final Fantasy V has a job system very similar to Tactics (designed by the same minor dev at Squaresoft, forget his name) that makes it incredibly satisfying for repeated playthroughs / just generally revisiting the SNES era FF games and actually enjoying the combat. The story is a bit sillier than the other ones, but it's still really good in that regard too.

I went ahead and did that fight with Cloud solo. It was the hardest fight in the game so far and also the most fun. Had to learn Shiva's tells like I was playing Bloodborne, and react properly. I knew I could probably come back with Aerith soon enough and roll it, but I kept trying until I got the solo win.
Edit: Also, didn't have Fira yet, just Fire. I used that + Elemental (tier 1) and slashed away, using Fire to stagger.

5 was always my favorite FF. Introducing Gilgamesh plus the amount of side content was great. Also you could totally abuse the job system and make most fights a breeze if you wanted to.Also, looking back at the last few pages of people ranking the games, just gotta drop my usual reminder...

Tactics >>> Almost every other game out there
I'd put Tactics on a game Mount Rushmore next to Super Metroid, Mario 64, and Chrono Trigger. FF7 is at the top of the honorable mentions though.

Bro what always gets me is after a town segment I will have done all side quests etc and so go into the bar or Aeriths house and they stop me and they’re like “You’re ready to go back already? Are you sure?” I always catch myself thinking maybe I missed something, but no.

By the time part 2 trailers come out everyone will have shifted and the shipping wars to who Aeris and Tifa shack up with will begin. Unless the planet shifted 10 orders of magnitude Yuffie will still be an annoying brat not even at Rikku level.

This is the most blue balling track in the whole game:
Can't wait to see what they do at City of the Ancients, but I want some hard synth in the music.
I also really liked how the Jenova music is orchestral and blue balls you on the original synth masterpiece, then phase 3 drops
There's a character called Kyrie in the Sector 5 Slums. She's a teenage thief with short dark hair and hot pants. Sound familiar?
Pros:
She goes with the Shinra propaganda on Avalanche = Wutai to rile up the townspeople. Yuffie's whole deal was wanting Wutai to continue the war and was ashamed their gave up.
Yuffie's theme is playing on the grammarphone next to where Johnny gives you the quest to get his wallet back from Kyrie.
Visually similar, like how Yuffie would look in disguise. Yuffie actually does wear a journalist disguise at the start of Disc 2 in Junon to help rescue Tifa.
There was a Cait Sith cameo, so why not others?
Cons:
Doesn't mention materia.
No shuriken or visible ninja skills.
Her grandmother (Angel of the Slums) doesn't look like Wutai royalty, unless it's her maternal side.
There was no effort at a Cid cameo when they literally have a Shinra Museum with a section for Palmer. The original did reference the rocket mission in the Mayor's book puzzle.
Can't wait to see what they do at City of the Ancients, but I want some hard synth in the music.

Speaks of Tactics, why isn’t this available for PS4? I’d rebuy in a heartbeat. Unless it’s there and I’m blind and missed it, I see upscale original versions of 7, 8, 9, 10, and 12 but not the greatest of them all Tactics.
