yeah my fc on gilg has been complaining. Huge sub wave or more likely some kinda ddos afoot. Every server being congested is a tad suspicious.

Given market board activity, not that suspicious. The influx is real.

Wonder if the queues on Gilg are a result of being on the same date center as Cactaur with Asmongold? I know gilg is pretty populated anyhow though so maybe not.

Recent popularity + login in campaign. It's not really a surprise. They really need to figure out the server situation before the expansion. It would be nice if they added another data center in some place other than California.

This game has no afk kick whatsoever by the way. I alt tabbed once and forgot for like over a day. Was still logged in.

They'll probably have to change that if this gets worse?

Another outcome of this is the support centres must be getting smashed. Approaching 4 days now since my ticket to get the Software Token removed from my account, and not so much as a peep from them (other than the bot reply confirming my ticket was "properly" received). There's no way to ask for an update, or check status, other than to show the ticket still exists.

The support page does warn that it could take up to a week, but seriously, can't take long to nuke a token. I understand that tickets are probably being processed in the order they are received, but it's getting kind of annoying now. Can't re-sub until it's fixed.

Anyone new here wanting a Complete edition, they are still cheap on cdkey websites. I found a reputable one (just cdkeys) and they still have stock for way below MSRP.

The chip supply shortages have hit everyone. I recall reading that they are working very hard to try to get extra server capacity in place, but they aren't even sure if it will be ready by 6.0.

Maybe they can wave some cash in front of Bobby Kotick for some soon-to-be unused WoW servers, and promise to keep it on the downlow. Just slide that money into the next quarter's earnings call. Bobby can be all, "Hahaha oh WoW is fine! Look at all this money despite what you've been hearing about sub numbers! Why, just enough for that massive bonus I always get!"

Bet I won't be the only one that's pissed, if the Oceanic Server(s) gets delayed.

That's the thing, Blizzard moved the WoW infrastructure into the cloud a long time ago. Which led to some horrific lag issues down the line, especially on some realm pools in Germany that Blizzard couldn't figure out, because every player on the forums reported a good ping to the server. SE on the other hand still seems to have traditional servers.

Simplified: Cloud providers optimize for server usage, so they move as many instances as possible onto a big server. When some instances on there hit a load spike, the other instances on the server hardware are going to suffer. This doesn't even have to be game related (e.g. world boss fight, or world pvp fighting). This can also happen when other customers on that hardware are suddenly having jobs ramping up load.

Basically: you need to optimize for latency and not for average cpu usage, because latency is what gives players a snappy response. This is also what you optimize for in high performance computing: When distributing a compute job to a lot of systems, each of them has to share intermediate results with the others along the way. When a task on one computer has to wait for the results of a different computer and can't continue, you are losing the benefit of using more systems to solve the problem. A lot of money is spent on optimizing the communication between such systems, with special dedicated cards and switches.

Of course cloud providers have solutions for that, but they are a lot more expensive.

Was running through Wanderer's Palace yesterday to break up the MSQ a bit, and during one of the runs a party member says "Eiro! Congratulations! You're the Sprout of the Day! Look me up on Gilg for a set of HQ gear for your level!". I'm like sure, whatever. I tell them that Gilg is my home server and after we finish they send me a tell asking what lvl of gear I wanted, so I tell them 52 since I was about to ding. Sure enough, they craft up a full set of lvl52 HQ gear for my Bard, armor, weapon and accessories, plus a nice looking chest piece for glamour. So now I'm twinked the fuck out, funny shit.

Not to discount you getting good gear. You'd also be surprised how easy it is to craft good gear when you're maxed in crafting. At level 80 each crafting job gets an ability that makes any item they make 10 or more levels lower be high quality. I use it when leveling alt jobs and making myself gear.

I think it's awesome this guy is doing this for people though and I've tried to find a way to help people out the same way. You can always tell someone comes from wow because they assume it's some scam or something else if someone offers them something for free. But people in FF really tend to be generous and friendly and it spreads.

Obviously you have people that can be toxic behind the scenes but for the most part the community has always really impressed me over the last 2 years of playing it.

One distinct advantage of playing PLD is the very cool armour.

Kind of bummed I wasted all the effort of working on an AST relic (glamour) when PLD is so much better looking and the AST class is never going to be touched post Endwalker launch.

After I get my SMN/SCH to 80 I need to decide if I want to do Dragoon or Paladin, both look awesome in their Job gear.

My DRG is only 51 right now so nowhere near maxed but I struggled with the animation speed on attacks. NIN was fun but I spent so much time dying to shit due to OCD over needing to finish rotations and stuff. DNC seems to be the perfect job for me, their mobility and utility is excellent even if they aren't top tier DPS. I can pretty much guarantee I'll die after any BLMs though and real DPS > theoretic DPS.
