I have a feeling were gonna get more then just a Oceanic Data Center.

Malboro has been a 800+ que wait everytime I've logged in for the past week, probably will see a LOT more servers coming soon..

I'm sure they are getting keys from their internal distribution system, then!

That is Squares system saving it's self from self destroying the servers, and also from having too do charge backs, they are just covering there ass, has nothing too do with key -resellers

Fun bit: the EU store doesn't have this problem.

(I may yet reinstall a MMO after 2 years of clean HD living... but I've also got 4 weeks of real vacation time coming after almost a year of "you can take a vacation, but all restaurants, pubs and tourist spots are closed anyway, even the hotel's restaurant is takeout to your room, enjoy your stay")

I'm enjoying playing it again, finally getting back to my Pld levelling after the best part of a year of hesitation caused by anxiety over whether I'd suck or not.

It's similar to healer, only when you're not performing that role do you realise just how low the bar is for most players.

I'm hoping that in a couple years or so ARR will get an upgrade, possibly based off whatever engine/version the FFXIV team is using for FFXVI. I think you can use graphic filters to make the graphics look a bit better, but I haven't messed with them yet. I was fairly impressed with the gameworld for Ashes of Creation, especially the since of scale. I would to see that be the case with FFXIV.

Hit 44 last night, mostly from MSQ (but lots of GC leves, or as much as I've been allowed daily). Decided to run Darkhold. I felt super undergeared for that place, especially when comparing my gear to the drops I could use (but lost of course). I've been playing Bard exclusively and it just feels so weak. The best, hardest hitting skill I have at 44 is the basic bitch lvl1 skill, both Bloodletter and that other rng skill (Heavy Shot?) do less dmg than just spamming the basic shot. Getting a new AoE skill at 45 which does less dmg than the previous AoE (cone) skill, and after that there is nothing til much later. Think I'll be shelving the Bard at 50 when other classes open up which I'm interested in, but have no knowledge of how they will play compared to Bard.

Going to try Machinist, Dancer, Samurai and Red Mage. I imagine I'll like at least one of those, I hope.

Yeah I tried Bard and didn't like it for that reason. I switched to levelling Red Mage as my DPS class and it feels like a huge upgrade which is much more interactive in how you play it.

By default you are balancing 3 magic abilities and 2 magic procs then a big combo 5 part melee combo when you hit the right conditons. Seems like it only expands as you approach 80.

Red Mage can also heal and ressurect, so you can help carry sprouts.

Machinist is kind of fun to me, but feels very weak and offers no utility really. Dancer and Red Mage both have a ton of useful utility and seem pretty good (I like Dancer in particular). Samurai hits like a truck but has no utility like machinist, but has a pretty basic rotation and it's easy to pump good dps in my limited experience (have dancer/Rm/Samurai at 70+). Not sure about end game, but I love the Samurai so focusing him up now. Having a great time playing this, but definitely have to reset your perspective if you're coming off of WOW/EQ. Playing this like a single player JRPG occasionally doing story dungeons, trials etc for some reason becomes more enjoyable to me. The story in Shadowbringers has been great so far as well, and to me is a big step up in production values and story.

One thing - I'm playing on max settings and have this sort of grain effect going on - is this normal or a setting that I can tweak? The game looks great, but often times out in the world I get a sort of grainy filter over foliage, etc. More of a nuisance than complaint.

SMN before the nerf leading into ShB was the best class bar none. RDM was a pretty close second. Real pets were awesome.

Ashes of Creation has the luck to be created when off-the-shelf engines are widely available, like Unreal or Unity, that support large open worlds.

One thing I'd personally like to see is to put two smaller zones together into a bigger zone, especially for the old cities like Gridania, Ul'dah and Limsa Lominsa. Once the PS4 is retired this should be possible.

A few things: Ranged DPS have the lowest personal dps, as they are intended to buff their party (or dance partner as a dancer). As a bard most dps comes from non-direct DoTs, so it feels a bit lackluster, but you make up for it with your songs and procs. At 52 you basically sing non-stop and manage Repertoire from your songs.

The level 45 ability "Rain of Death" shares a cooldown with Bloodletter. It basically works like this: Tank pulls, you DoT every mob up while the tank is on the way to the next pack, and then you DoT those up, too. Once you stop for the deathball of mobs, your Mage's Ballad has a 40% chance per tick to reset Rain of Death/Bloodletter. Since you dotted everything up on the way already you can directly go to town with "Quick Nock" (on the GCD) and "Rain of Death" (off the GCD).

Keys to playing Bard:
- Manage DoTs: Apply when under "Raging Strikes" and extend with "Iron Claw" shortly before Raging Strikes runs out to snapshot the +10% damage.
- Sing the songs, manage their Repertoire procs, flush them shortly before the song runs out.
- Use Battle Voice to buff everyone else in burst windows/dps checks.

Also, Warden's Paean is stupidly strong, because it's not only can it remove a detrimental effect on a player like an Esuna, but it can also prevent it before it even applies.

Going from Gunbreaker to Black Mage is a massive shock. Why do Gunbreakers have so many buttons again? Why do tanks in general have so many damn abilities?

I have 26 abilities bound right now which is about as many as I can do with easily reachable keys and I have to find another 6+ binds as I keep levelling up? What?

Ya that's definitely something that takes getting used to - I haven't found a class yet that doesn't need at least 3 hotbars for abilities. It's too much, generally.

WTB DH in FFXIV - 5 button rotation ftw

PS4 Controller has 32 easily reachable keys and another 16 on double tap if you really need more.

That's assuming you have your non combat shit bount to sets of seperate cycleable keys which only show up if your weapon is sheathed.

Managed to bind all my Gunbreaker shit at the base 32 keys without macros now.

Generally L2 is 8 buttons for single target tanking rotation and defence cooldowns, R2 is 8 buttons for multi target rotation and defence cooldowns, L2+R2 is 8 buttons for the extended dps rotation and dps cooldowns, R2+L2 is weird buttons I hardly use.
