That is the concern, trying to make Black mage more like a mobile turret, like Picto is basically.

I understand removing the Enochain Timers.. but the potency reduction on AoE seems.. a bit heavy handed there isn't much use for it outside of trash packs in dungeons, and 1 Alliance Raid fight, but the issue is the fucking AoE area is like 4 yalms.. how often are all 5 stacked up? But that is a problem with all AoEs in general. Packs in general don't "stay" stacked after the tank parks them the mobs "spread".

On one hand, part of me glad it wasn't yet another Ascian doing the impersonation thing. On the other, despite this dealing with a pretty large issue using the Key to murder people for their aether on other shards to feed the Endless...a lot of this plot feels pretty small potatoes. Now they're introducing a new villain in 7.2, which in theory will be all tied up by the end of 7.3 because that will be the end of the DT story and 7.4/7.5/7.55 will be setting up 8.0. Unless potentially he ends up a slightly longer arc villain, but that would be weird at this point.

He knows something we don't, I have a feeling that he is working for someone higher-up the chain, AKA some far powerful Esper(AkA Ultima/Necron/ALIENS IN MY FF GAME WHAT.!), the weird thing is Slave Sphene, seems to be a dead horse(I was really hoping it would be the "Girl in the Green Dress"), but it's just Dagger with a majorly different back-story. It seems like they are trying to rescue something out of what they had from ground work lefttovers of DT slop, thankfully seems that Wuk is gonna be out pretty soon.

Looks like I did call it that the person we found in Living Memory was real Sphene. In terms of Calyx's plan, it was telling he left us the crown, which they once again remind us was a regulator. I could see in patch 7.3 Sphene puts the crown on in an attempt to solve a crisis and this lets Calyx fuck up her memories. Also the final shot showed him with what looked to be some manner of IV feed or tube in his neck, which suggests he isn't an Endless (yet).

So question is why did they keep Sphene alive in stasis, but pretend she was dead and replace her with an AI? I suspect that she still has some type of royal authority that expires if she is dead. All the chaos has been forcing her to take more action, so maybe his 4D chess move is to force Sphene to take actions that ultimately give him access to what he needs to accomplish his goals.

Also it is interesting they know their reflection is the 9th - that means unless their cross dimensional experiments were really comprehensive, they probably got that info from somewhere. If not an Ascian, then the question is who or what?

Also the Disco raid fight is awesome lol

The music for all 4 are once again the best, if they keep this up rofl.

The Disco Volcanic Torches I laughed when I saw them.

I think Savage 7/8 are gonna be really rough

Say what you will about Dawntrail, but the combat content has been A+

This post patch story could also lead somewhere interesting. I think they took some of the criticism to heart about Wuk - she is still there but all the characters are getting a chance to do something and WoL is back to being the biggest threat

I love how the bad guy basically causes half the city to lose power in their attempt to assassinate our character, smoke clears and we’re just a little winded and he’s like “fuck, hoped that would have worked”

I might actually try Black Mage again, switched to Pictomancer and had way more fun, mostly due the awful timer shit on BLM and failing rotations due to moving.

BLM things: Paradox in fire becomes an extra instant cast button that procs Fire 3 instant but you have to use it before 6th Fire IV because the Flare Star availability cancels it. So instead of using after 3-4 casts to refresh the old timer you now can press it 0-5 whenever you need movement.

AOE Flare being a 2sec cast is noticeably shorter, cinematics and stun interludes won't reset the rotation plus Foul charges continue to tick. Thunder can be refreshed at any point during the rotation or if you need a last ditch instant because you are moving use it rather than Scathe. Scathe feels pointless now, well it was pointless before now it dug itself deeper.

I think Calyx is possibly the first Endless ever, as he has that IV/Monitoring thing on his neck in every scene. It would make sense as Sphene said he also had bad health problems.

I did laugh as he sat there and complained and was like.. that was a whole district, and it just brought you to your knees *laugh*.

I'm still of the belief that the bigger threat in the background is what is forcing Calyx hand. It makes sense as Calyx is very strangely acting like Kuja from IX, the whole "Forced Evolution", creation of races/soul manipulation was a very big thing in IX. In IX though Pandemonium was the key for the whole thing, and Garland(Was the threat for awhile till Kuja killed him), Yes the original "Jack Garland" from FFI.

But him now knowing how we flipped the switch on the key is scary.

Not having to worry about Enochain is very nice and now they can do more with combat design(I believe the Enochain timer was a very big problem they had). I think Paradox might get more tweaks eventually, or they will give us some sort of Ice Star(There is Frost Star in PvP, it's Blizzard V), to go along with Flare Star..

I cheered when Wuk Lamat said "I'm going away for a bit to do something, you do this with other characters and I'll be back later!"

Normal can be rough 1st week, but I agree 7 and 8 savage will probably be nuts. Those were the only fights the group kept chain wiping on. 8 has the dps check on the raid wipe mechanic and I suspect you’ll have to deal with more clone AoE/mechanics

I did laugh during that one phase where people who spend time in the golden saucer would have a huge advantage

The only new mechanic I am finding hard is the 2nd boss of the new dungeon, I'm going cross-eyed trying to figure out which clone is the last one in the chain. The graphic is not clear to me at all.
New raid bosses were all great fun but the dancing one is definitely the best.

You only need to pay attention to the direction they are disappearing. Same applies when he starts doubling it up, but you probably won't be seeing this much pretty soon, as he has shit for HP.

And as far as Savage they really didn't show there hand at all, other then M7 having stage transitions and OMG ADDS(like actual adds that have mechs for the fight) holy fuck finally.

Sugar Riot/Lone Wolf were very lame but I believe they are not showing "much" too keep the Savage version a surprise. Which is honestly fine after the whole thing they showed with Wicked Thunder in M4 kind of nice not knowing what will happen with certain mechanics.

I thought that at first but it seems like the 3rd or so batch they start zigzagging. But like I said I'm going crosseyed staring at all of those blurry lines and images so god knows what's happening.
Ultimately it doesn't matter since getting hit by one mechanic in a standard dungeon is meaningless, especially as a tank, does make me feel bad though!

Went to a Japanese Restaurant before the Final Fantasy music gig.

I'm surrounded by autistic tranny FF14 players IRL and they are all DPS judging by their t-shirts and hoodie symbols.

Edit:

Ala-Migho theme (fucking why, NOT the Stormblood theme by the way)
Shadowbringers ending theme (Crystarium theme with vocals)
Endwalker ending theme (Sharlayan Theme with vocals)
Endsinger battle song (awesome and my wife asked me wtf they were singing for 'Big Fat Tacos')
