This. I'm sure you might be able to find one somewhere, but don't. Wait until they open sales back up(they will), because it will mean they sort of fixed the log in issues. Just hold off for now
The login server and unable to obtain world list issues are just ridiculous. I haven't really experienced them until just now as I would always log in early in the morning and stay logged in all day/night while AFK. What's worse though is that they have absolutely no communication about this stuff that I am aware of. If it hadn't been for the translated forum post someone did a few pages back, the amount of actual information about the problems would be zero.

I can't help but think they don't have much more of an idea of what's going on with their own servers than we do. Why else would they say/do absolutely nothing and then throw us a free week like it matters.

You're going to run into two viewpoints when it comes to this game. For those that are able to play consistently and not run into this login issues (most likely due to logging in very early and then basically going afk at some point since the game has no inactivity boot) they'll say the game is smooth and very little issues in game. Which is not a lie. The other viewpoint is those on the outside, who constantly encounter login issues, world list issues and character creation locks on servers. There are also account issues, but you are unlikely to encounter those now because SE has changed Mog Station to actually make sense.
The irony of this is the viewpoint of group one (where the game is smooth and little issues) is a direct result of sacrificing group two. You see, they instituted all these locks and world full issues to make the in game experience good. What happened though is it just locked out a shitload of people (group two), probably equal or not more than those in group one.
I wouldn't buy the game now (if you could). You'll find very few servers allowing you to make a character and even if you did, you will be confronted with login errors on an almost constant basis unless you wake up at the crack of dawn. Just remember, all of that is so that group one (the ones who are in game now) have a great game experience.

^^^ I wasn't doing it this week, going AFK, but I knew this weekend would be a clusterfuck, and indeed it sounds like it is, so I just stayed logged in since fri afternoon. Might be a shitty thing to do but fuck you I got mine.
They should of just hired someone host the servers and the billing, you know the professionals? Instead of trying to do it themselves. They would be bathing in their money right now, at least for a few months until this game got old. also why does it take a fucking week to upgrade their shit? Cant they just call dell and get shit done within 24-48 hours like my business does? Seems like a week to plug in some new hardware and upgrade the old just seems like forever in 2013. Maybe I just don't understand the scope or whatever but still, a week?

Honestly, Icherishthe login issues. It's become a mini-game for me. No macros for me. Generally, it takes me about 10-15 min of 4-click circus while watching Sunny or something. Today though, I not only got the 90k bastard, but then 2002 to go with good ole 1017. Bravo SOE, bravo. Part me wants to fly to Nippon Land and baby-shake Yoshida for 30 minutes, or until he either dies or I tire.
It's the perfect yin and yang if you think about it: It's a fucking nightmare trying to get in, but once you're in, it's incredible.

Yea that doesn't make sense either. I would think SE has more resources than a small time company like say En Masse or even Trion. The troubling thing to me is it doesn't seem like there were any contingency plans in casesomethinglike this happened. Their first clue should of been open beta. I mean, did they not get an idea of what they were looking at just by pre-orders alone?

The game stops being very good once you're 50, unfortunately. The only thing you'll have to do is kill all of the 8man Primal fights once (or more hoping for a weapon drop) and then farm Ampador Keep over and over and over, because that single level 50 dungeon is the only viable path to gear progression.
8m Ifirit gets you 10 Philosophy tokens (ilvl70 gear) and 4 Mythology tokens (ilvl 90 gear) + drops a random ilvl60 weapon. Yes, FOUR tokens. I assume Garuda/Titan are similar on token drops, though they both drop ilvl 70 weapons. Running Amdapor Keep gets you 100/40 and takes 25-30 minutes if you know what you're doing. AK also gets you the best dropped armor (ilvl60) you can get outside of tokens . The other level 50 dungeon gives you lower ilvl loot (ilvl55), no Mythology tokens, I think less Philosophy tokens, and takes more time.
Note that you're also capped at 300 Mythology tokens/week.
So yeah, there's not much end game to look forward to right now. They better patch in some more content and real raids pretty fast.

ITs too bad too because if you look at people like Sean up there, I think some of these folks are throwing up their middle fingers at this and walking away. And I don't blame them. Other companies in the business would DIE for an opportunity like this, a new (redone) mmo with overall positive reviews and steady growing numbers? And yet it gets all fucked up with shitty, not thought out and planned infrastructure.

No offense but I don't listen to people like you which consume 90% of the content in a week and then bitch there is nothing to do. Ive been playing a lot and Im still Lv23/17 and have tons of shit to do. You need a game like WoW, to start fresh in and have 8 yrs of content to do.

Because it s the first week, holmes. And when I get there in a few weeks or a month and there is shit all to do Ill quit too, don't you worry. Also Im like 1 class out of what 8? Granted I propabably wont do all of them, but I would like to try a few. So there is plenty to do.
Yeah well, the game isn't even close to as amazing as some of the people here want to believe. That was my point. They need to be prepared for the bullshit and there is a lot of bullshit.
Lack of content, server problems, account problems, etc. People should not buy this game and the white-knighting of Square that some people done is retarded and should be called out for the fucking nonsense that it is.
