The alternative is that you have Dead servers and active servers...

I'd argue that being unable to play the game is better for player retention than playing on an inactive/dead server. Psychology 101

That's the same impression I got when I first entered Gridania with my bard. Holy shit look at all the people around here, this city is full of life. This is the first game in a long time that gave me the old EQ/vanilla WoW feeling.

You're still forgetting that they halted box sales after like 2 days. They haven't even allowed all the people who pre-ordered and bought the game the first two days to create characters yet. What happens when they allow box sales again? You can say that they're trying to avoid a SWTOR, but there's a difference between that and basically just not allowing a vast majority of your customers to play your game. They need a good amount of new servers.

Anyone unsure of what class they want to play should just make a monk. Every single class can benefit from MNK 12 from at least 1-30, so it doesn't hurt to do that first and switch to something else.

Yea I felt the same way. Some things I can tell you exactly what I like, other things are just clicking in ways I don't think about but work for me.

I logged in at 2:30 am pst, (servers were up early) did a quest and went to bed. Stayed logged in. Hugh jackman could not get me to log out at this point.

Keep checking in with friends to see if I am online, lol.

Oh, was it pyros who said not all quest hubs unlock for you? How does that work? Depending on your home city determines where your main quest takes you, so you don't hit certain ones or something?

That sucks if so!

Each city has newbie friendly sidequests that can take a person from 1-15. Your starter city will also have an overarching storyline quest that can also take you from 1-15 forcing you to visit each of the questhubs, but you definitely need to supplant it with either a lot of fates, a few sidequests, or some good ol' fashioned mob grinding (mobs your level or higher can build xp chains which works great especially if you're low level and killing things quickly, in reality most people will do a little of each). You only get to do the storyline missions once in the game, they are unique to each city. The sidequests will be available to help level up an alt class if you love doing fetch quests, but it's an inferior method of alt-leveling because quests don't give 50% bonus xp like killing mobs do on a subjob.

Even after the maintenance character creation is disabled for all NA servers. This launch has been awful. I almost feel sorry for them they are so bad....

So I went to try and buy this today...they stopped selling it because of their stupid server issue bullshit.

Time to go get something else to play instead I guess.

Anybody happen to know which files get updates for these patches? i'm trying to figure out what files i can put in my dropbox to send to my gf since the launcher doesnt seem to work on her PC :\

Ughhh that launcher is poop.

Or better yet, know a solution to fixing the launcher not being able to hold a connection? (internet works fine for absolutely everything else..)
