Apparently you can't preorder the CEs at Gamestop, but if you preorder the normal expansion, you get a fabric map.

Such an awesome CE. So many nods to my favorite FF and one of my favorite games of all time. What I wouldn't give to be bale to get into this game.

The NA and EU store went down in no time yesterday following a long maintenance today.

Huh. I knew the store was slammed, but I did mine at around midnight PST and had zero issues start to finish, including pre-order code redemption. One advantage of working late, I guess.

Preordered and stoked. I've been leveling... everything that wasn't White Mage/Miner since those were my only 50s. The ixal dailies are superb for crafting, and it makes it a lot smoother for the dps classes to just queue for dungeons then craft until queue pops. I'm really trying to avoid having to spam fates, since that bores the shit out of me, and playing in a dungeon lets me use all the positional abilities I generally can't soloing. Have to admit, this is definitely the strongest MMO for me since WoW originally released, and while I am not an endgame raider guy really anymore, it offers so much to do that it is hard to be bored. Can't wait to mob around as a Dark Knight in a couple of months.

They're going kinda the wow way for the expansion too with 2 difficulties for the raid, so even casual players who don't want to static should be able to clear it(though DF is obviously probably still going to be pain). That's great for me cause while I joined a static these past few months to clear T13 before the expansion, I'm now done and told them I'm out(well technically I gave them a 2weeks time to replace me, I'm still clearing with them for now) and I really can't do the static shit for extended periods of time it's just too fucking annoying and feels like a job when I have to log in on specific days and raid specific stuff. Oh and farming for loot every week fucking sucks too.

But yeah even currently there's still a lot to be done, and while DF isn't optimal, a lot can be done in PF too like extreme fights and second coil and even final coil(though at this point learning parties for FCoB are kinda uncommon, but I guess next patch once they drop the weekly locks, they'll be more common).

I haven't preordered yet, waiting to see if there's anywhere that sells the game for cheaper or shit like that and no hurry since I'm going digital anyway. Definitely looking forward to Heavensward though, 3 new classes to level, new skills for every classes, crafting specialization, so much shit to do.

Can I use that even if I purchased the base game through Steam?
Sadly it seems Steam users are getting fucked on that and you can only apply a steam key, which I think you can only buy from steam itself, and not sure they'll do any price cut on that.

I got mine from GMG earlier, got the mail giving the voucher, figured I wouldn't be able to find it lower from a non shady place, so went for it. 25% off is nice, not that I cared too much since 35euros wasn't a huge price to begin with anyway, but eh.

You have to buy the expansion via Steam, from what I was reading. (EDIT: This is if you registered your account via Steam or something; I don't use Steam nearly at all, so not clear on the semantics. =p)

Hmm... I registered my account during open beta but didn't buy the game until this past October/November with Steam. Maybe I can apply a retailer code?

If you used a Steam code, you won't be able to use a retailer code. Easiest way to know if you registered with Steam is if you have Steam Wallet as a payment option in your mog station.

Oh well. Not really interested in the CE stuff anyways.

Folks still actively playing on Gilgamesh? Also, specifically on PS4 so I could join a party on that and use my Sony Headset which never gets any use.

I still use that notebook they provided with the first FFXIV CE, best item I've ever gotten from a game CE.

The physical stuff they are providing this round is pretty meh, unless you want the dragon figurine.

There are people on Gilg, but I wouldn't look to ISIS for a steady Free Company, really. I'm infrequent and there's only like 3 other people who are on the regular. Valkrum Dunes is probably the best FC on the server for leveling/grouping in general, and then use Linkshells for statics etc.

Over in the "MMO with best group PVE content" thread a few people had positive comments about the group PVE gameplay in FF14. Based on those comments and the free 14 day trial I downloaded the game and have gotten a gladiator up to level 10. I know the newbie levels are primarily to introduce you to the basics of the game so I know you can't judge the entire game on the first few levels but I would like to know when the gameplay starts to become more interesting and challenging because as of right now the combat is beyond boring.

At level 10 I have two main attack skills, two offensive and defensive cooldowns on 2+ minute cooldowns, an area taunt and a heal. The global cooldown on the basic attack skills is 2.5 seconds which seems like an eternity. Its a tab targeting system so I just stand there alternating pushing the 1 and 2 key for however long it takes me to kill a mob. Every once in a while a mob will telegraph some kind of attack which puts a circle or cone on the ground but they are easy to walk out of. If there is an actual "dodge" ability in the game similar to TESO/GW2/Neverwinter I haven't seen it yet.

My first impression is this game is a WoW-clone but the combat gameplay is not as fluid and fast paced as WoW's. I played WoW for years so I don't have a problem with it being a WoW clone as long as it is fun to play. Group PVE in WoW has been dumbed down so bad that it isn't fun anymore so I would be willing to give this game a shot if the group PVE content is more fun and challenging than the current dungeons in WoD expansion.

The game does have a lot of "Wow clone" mechanics. As for your experience, you're level 10 so you haven't even experienced the group game at all. Grouping for dungeons starts at level 15 and that's when the fun actually begins. The first couple dungeons are slow, but they quickly ramp up as you level.

Like I said, it's similar to wow in a lot of ways, but has key differences. The community is much better imo, the graphics are a million times better, the gear and class system is much better. I personally find the dungeons to be more engaging and fun. I like how the classes play as compared to wow, I'm not big on button mashing ect.

All that said, there are plenty of people who just don't like the slower style. I would try leveling to at least 30 before you made a decision one way or another. Run lots of dungeons and stop soloing if you want a true picture.

Well the game has a 2.5 sec GCD as you noticed and also a 400ms roundtrip global reaction stretcher to equalize console and PC players (they said. I think its their shitty tech but who knows).

Bro, this game is a goofy, very pretty, slow ass version of WOW basically. I like it because the media part is really solid also the community is very friendly and helpful and nontoxic most of the time. The gameplay, well if you are a die hard Final Fantasy fan like most of the long time players you might stomach it. If you are burned out on wow and the themepart genre, stay away, really. Leveling is painfully slow at times, dungeon finder times for non tanks are atrocious and there is not that much content and the world is not really large. Also the game is not really open world. Areas are separated and there are invisible walls everywhere. Can't often jump down a small slope and stuff like that.

It's ok as a secondary MMO for me. I try to tolerate the childish part (talking carrots should not bother you) and play it very casually now and then.

(Imho)It can hold up against wow in a lot of areas, really. The engine is utterly crap compared to what you are used in positioning and action feedback. Don't even try PvP. Some raids are nice but the telegraph systems gets ridiculed a lot of times by the positional delay.
