I've been playing by myself on Gilgamesh, since I was booted from ISIS sometime during the time I didn't play.

Grinding up them jobs.

If you guys on Gilg want a FC that does basically nothing, ISIS is recruiting! I basically make anyone who is on a Field Agent and let them spend the company points however, because there is 1.9 million of them. Recruit whom you want, let whomever join. But being honest, if you guys want an active free company, look at ValkD (Valkrum Dunes) as it is apparently the zergiest of FCs but it has people doing shit literally all the time. Kriptini is in a FC called NIN and they are apparently doing endgame raiding in coil. Me, I'm in ISIS and the questions about our name is literally a daily thing now.

Alkorin might boot me for this =\

Lucky. I had so many answers prepared. The most notice people would ever give me about it was "your fc name is lol."

But yeah, I'm in Ningai now. It's active, and they do raid Final Coil, but I raid in my own static outside of the FC, so I don't really know how well they raid. (I think they're currently progressing T12.)

Is ValkD selective or do they admit anyone who applies? I just want to hit the apply button in game and get in, sick of this shit with FF14 where people want you to apply on their website and fucking interview you. It defeats the entire purpose of the streamlined functionality the devs built into the game for FC recruitment.

I'm in some shitty guild with a bunch of immature people who try constantly to be clever, and it's a lucky day when someone answers one of my questions about the actual game. I feel they are using FF14 as a glorified chat room, and I just have no interest in a guild that reminds me of being in high school.

I always thought MMO were nothing more than glorified chat rooms. If not than I've been playing them wrong for 18 years.

I'm kinda taking the OCD route to catching up. Finished MSQ to 2.55 on Sunday (shit got real GoT esque out of nowhere, amazing). After waiting for players to join and quit for 10 minutes finally got to finish Steps of Faith and it was..... intense. Came down to the literal last second.

Mon/Tues I powered through all the HM dungeons and got real lucky DF wise. Everyone was super cool and the dungeons were superb.

Tonight I will start the CT quest lines and next week while on Vacation I plan to get started on the widely praised Hildebrand questline.

Hopefully by this time next week I can start on EX Primals. That should leave me like two months to get as far as I can doing coil.

Since comming back I am having an absolute blast with this game. So much great content at 50 right now and I havent even bothered with DoH/L, Mog quests, or any of the logs beside hunt. Or even Hunts for that matter!

This game is such a gem among mmos but I can see how many ppl get turned off pre lvl 50.

Hunts are basically a good way to farm your alexandrite, or carbontwine/coats to upgrade your 120 gear to 130.

Speaking of Im not sure how it works on other servers but on Balmung there is a hunt LS you join (that actually has its own website with timers and trackers) and you get updated on pops. Once your done hunting your leave the LS or get booted and then rejoin when hunting again. Actually one of the cooler community things I've seen done in a game. Thanks to that LS I had all my alex done in 3 days.

Ahh, crap. They're actually asking questions about the guild name now and I'm in the middle of moving to a new place, so I don't have time to play.

I'll have to pop on and stand in the middle of somewhere densely populated just for luls.

They will let anyone in if they apply.

Man, it has been so long since I played but I'm seriously considering coming back. I played a tank (glad, i think) and got my first epic weapon / shield, and a few pieces of gear from the first turn or two from coil. That's about all I remember at this point. I don't really want to tank anymore, what are the chances of coming back and switching jobs / leveling up and getting ready for the expansion? What's the state of DPS these days? I think i'd like to play a rogue but are they worth it or are ranged DPS more desirable?

Right now, all DPS are more or less equally desirable and class balance between them is VERY good.

For endgame content, parties generally consist of 4 DPS, and the 4 DPS will be one BRD, one BLM/SMN, and any two of MNK/NIN/DRG.

So I am 16 now on my Archer and just started leveling my Pug. Pug is awesome fun Bruce Lee'ing everything. I have him up to 5-6 now and will finish off the level 5 class quest, and then I am thinking I will level up by archer to 30 and finish off my Pug to 15 to be a bard. Some random person invited me to their FC - Sky-something or other but they are very helpful so far and pretty cool. So I may stay there for a bit.

I like the PUG starting areas a lot better than New Gridania.

I didn't like Grid either, but I think part of it is cause I played it during closed beta(was the only city available) then played it again at release so it was meh. It's pretty boring overall too. Uldah is kinda desert-ish but with oasis and shit, looks better and the music is a lot better. At release I played in Limsa on my Arcanist, I love the way the areas look there, even though in terms of map layout it's all pretty shit in the early levels, bunch of backtracking and what not.

And yeah monk skills look cool as shit. Dragon Kick and Howling...Fist? look so fun, and Shoulder Tackle is pretty cool too considering the typical slow movement in the game. Ninjas have really flashy skills too, but it's like quite over the top, any skill they do they end up doing like 3twirls a flip and slash 14times. The slower pace lets them do fairly lengthy and detailed animation for attacks, so you have some pretty cool stuff. For all the boring gameplay of Paladin for example, Rage of Halone still looks good after you've seen it ten thousand times. Oh and the limit breaks, I love doing LB3 on my Black Mage, it takes forever to cast but then that huge motherfucking meteor that comes down crashing on the mobs, so good. Looking forward to Heavensward class specific LBs, monk one gonna be epic I'm sure.

Yeah I forgot to mention the music in Uldah. It's awesome. In the other starting area there is a market you come to and the music goes all Japanese Anime/Sonic Racing... That was weird considering everything else is really really good so far.

Haha that was probably for the seasonal event for Easter. Its in all the major hubs but was patched out Tuesday.

The soundtrack to this game is on a whole other level. Just wait till you here all the primal fights. Particularly Shiva and Titan, shit really got my blood pumping.

Yeah the music is bar none some of the best I have ever heard.

Is crafting worth it this late in the game? People are saying the expansion will fix a lot of things with crafting.

PS: If anyone was on the fence about getting the console version and tying it to your account so you can play either/or platform, the PS4 version is on sale for 19 bucks, and the PS3 version is $12.

Crafting is meh. At this point unless you're extremely dedicated, you won't catch up to high end crafting. On the other hand you can make money out of low end crafting in various ways. You could ignore the whole thing and make money otherwise though(daillies and spiritbinding). At the same time leveling the crafts now will save you time for the expansion.

The expansion is adding interesting stuff to crafting, but it's not really in need of fixing. Crafting is very alive and well at this point of the game, it's a money maker for both new players and long time crafters alike, though since it uses a progression system similar to raids and shit, it's very hard to catchup quickly, plus an accomplished crafter needs more or less every crafts leveled up so it's like a real investment, both in time and money to get there. There's alwyas a high demand in most stuff from crafters because they make housing furnitures and glamour items(cosmetics), as well as a bunch of gear to break down into materias for people who need to do their relics and what not, and for some slots, crafted gear is actually BiS or close enough to it, though it requires stupid amount of money to make the item then meld the materias in it(mostly the materias).

The only shit classes at the moment would be Alchemist and Cooking, since potions and food are more or less the same as they've always been and the side stuff they make isn't that good. Alchemy was good like last tier of content kinda with Putty, and they can make a few weapons and what not so there can be some money to be made, but Cooking is just dreadful. Then again, it sells quick, so it might be worth it if you don't mind afk crafting for hours with shitty profits per item. Main issue of cooking is the new food they kept adding is useless due to how food works in this game(it gives % of the stats with a cap, however the % are fucked up and basically no one can reach the caps, making the higher food useless when the old food gives the same benefits anyway).
