Maybe my guild was just terrible, but I remember during EQ2 raiding having to dodge Thet-em-aua's AoE within 10 seconds of it hitting because the timer was never accurate enough to give us an exact time it would hit, and the AoE would absolutely 1-shot any melee standing near it with no warning of it coming.Death touches and void zones are dumb mechanics timed by the actual program with less than a 10 second margin of error.
EQ2's raid dev was a retarded homeless man that was only allowed inside once a year to yell MORE KNOCKBACKS AND MANA DRAINS when they needed to put out a new zoneMaybe my guild was just terrible, but I remember during EQ2 raiding having to dodge Thet-em-aua's AoE within 10 seconds of it hitting because the timer was never accurate enough to give us an exact time it would hit, and the AoE would absolutely 1-shot any melee standing near it with no warning of it coming.
Yeah, so when I switched to Rift, I was very welcoming of AoE telegraphs.EQ2's raid dev was a retarded homeless man that was only allowed inside once a year to yell MORE KNOCKBACKS AND MANA DRAINS when they needed to put out a new zone
No need, the game holds your hand all the way up to level cap and then even beyomd that.So I'm playing every FF in order and I'm up to FF14.
I bought the expac and I have yet to log in.
Any good guides for someone who hasnt touched this game since open beta of the first version.
If I remember correctly, in order to play as Dark Knight, Astrologian, or Machinist, you have to level a class to 50 and unlock Ishgard, which requires completing all of the vanilla Main Story Quests and all of the 2.1-2.5 Main Story Quests.I want to be an astrologian
Ok so white or black mage. What one?If I remember correctly, in order to play as Dark Knight, Astrologian, or Machinist, you have to level a class to 50 and unlock Ishgard, which requires completing all of the vanilla Main Story Quests and all of the 2.1-2.5Main Story Quests.
Do you like waiting in dungeon queues for 30+ minutes at a time? If so, Black Mage is the class for you!Ok so white or black mage. What one?
What server should I play on, Gilgamesh is full.Do you like waiting in dungeon queues for 30+ minutes at a time? If so, Black Mage is the class for you!
The cool thing about healers in this game is that you can heal and DPS at the same time if you're skilled. Very early as a Conjurer (which you will need to level to 30 in order to unlock White Mage), you'll get a skill called Cleric Stance which swaps your healing stat and your damage stat. So when the party is fine on HP, go into Cleric Stance and do some damage. When the party or tank is low on HP, turn it off and do some healing. So I would say White Mage.
Well if your goal is to just play the game's story then move onto the next game, pick any server. What server should I play on, Gilgamesh is full.
I guess you never played FFXI.Why do you dislike telegraphs? Do you prefer invisible 1-shot AoEs that need to be timed by an external program and jousted with a 10 second margin of error?
I heard you can wait till like 4 in the morning and made a character.Well if your goal is to just play the game's story then move onto the next game, pick any server.
If you actually want to play the game for a while, maybe get into raiding, I suggest making a character on any server then paying for a server transfer to Gilgamesh. Or you can check out other higher population servers like Balmung, Excalibur, and Hyperion, but Gilgamesh has a fantastic community so I highly recommend it.
Sometimes. Honestly though, I'd rather just pay the $12 for the transfer and save myself the hassle. (Which is what I did.)I heard you can wait till like 4 in the morning and made a character.
Oh wow did u now wow coolSometimes. Honestly though, I'd rather just pay the $12 for the transfer and save myself the hassle. (Which is what I did.)

FFXI had/has some really terrible combat mechanics. They're fun in a "oh this is meant to be zerged" manner, but not actually good mechanics. The draw-before-ready animation/mechanic is quite possibly one of the most inane design decisions ever implemented in an mmorpg. It's barely a step above EQ, which was basically a testing ground for far more successful/better games when it comes to mechanics in general. Deathtouch is probably the best example of developers just not knowing what to do next. Hilarious.I guess you never played FFXI.
