Seems like glasses/monocles/patches only so far. We'll see in the future- but thats an unenviable amount of work for the TF2 levels of hats in the game. They went back and added hundreds of items to the new races, so they'll probably be able to wear them
Not sure I'm happy with the crafting changes to allow 75% HQ from mats. If it functions just as a nerf across the board making things easier I'm not sure what the real benefit is b/c they made some noise about wanting to make it more attractive for gatherers to gather HQ mats...but I think that won't be as big a deal as just an overall nerf making it all super easy.
Depends on how they do it. Hopefully they make it harder to gain quality via crafting, so the higher starting HQ becomes kinda necessary to keep the same difficulty. That said crafting hasn't been hard all of SB due to Prudent Touch specifically so I don't know how they'll go next expansion, they'd need a rather large increase in difficulty to make it challenging. Even if it's easier to craft if you get all HQ, people will still look into crafting with as few HQs as possible since that's how you can get money, it's already easy as fuck to HQ if you have full HQ mats, it's just not worth it when you can HQ with only 1 or 2 items instead(items that you can make yourself off NQ mats into HQ like say 80% of the time and then sell the rest to break even on mats price). Not sure I'm happy with the crafting changes to allow 75% HQ from mats. I can't say I care too much either way, crafting's just something to pass time and make money and I didn't mind the SB way of being so easy you just macro everything because there's no need to manual craft, finding perfect macros to cut corners on materias/food was interesting to me at least. I had my own macros, made for NQ Tempura/no tea/minimum melds because of price fluctuation on HQ tome mats often dropping to the same price as NQ when many people were dumping them at the same time and it felt nice to figure these out rather than follow the guides recommending cunning HQ teas + Macha HQ for everything which felt like a huge waste of money.
All it will do is place a greater value on HQ mats, which is a buff to well geared gatherers, since getting HQ materials to increase the odds of HQ components will be desirable.
Additionally, the interview with Yoshi P about the Ishgard Restoration mentions end game crafting content (there will be leaderboards and some combines are going to require max slotted high tier crafting gear, which comes with special rewards for people who succeed), so I suspect they're still going to make that difficult to obtain.
The books are easy to get but they're older books and it's pointless for them to keep their high value when they're adding new books you have to get with the same scrips too. It makes perfect sense for them to reduce the old books no one cares about for easier catching up.SB's crafting has definitely been easier, and I hope you're right that they make it harder to raise quality through actual crafting. As you noted, macros at the end game will always be about HQing with as little HQ mats as possible, I just worry the 75% thing from mats will just be an across the board nerf to make it even more accessible (when it already was silly easy). Kind of like how they said they want to make acquiring the Master Books 4-6 easier to acquire...when the Master 4 books are literally only 200 red scripts apiece. That's only like 2 collectible turns in per book, which is about as easy to get as it gets.
