Alchemist and Weaver looked quite pro. The lack of headgear on the new races is going to be a bummer tho. A lot of the cool set identities are tied up in sweet hats.

They went back and added hundreds of items to the new races, so they'll probably be able to wear them

Thought they were going to discuss the new raid system. Was a decent Live Letter nonetheless.

Seems like glasses/monocles/patches only so far. We'll see in the future- but thats an unenviable amount of work for the TF2 levels of hats in the game.

Goes and Fantas for new tomestones, scrips and DoH/DoL gear following the SB model, 4000 centurio seal limit (possibly a new hunt currency then), weekly mark bill tracks the B rank, S rank gets announced zone-wide on spawn. Crafter + Retainer UI improvements, confirmation that 5.01 + 5.05 patch releases will mirror 4.X timeline.

Not sure I'm happy with the crafting changes to allow 75% HQ from mats. If it functions just as a nerf across the board making things easier I'm not sure what the real benefit is b/c they made some noise about wanting to make it more attractive for gatherers to gather HQ mats...but I think that won't be as big a deal as just an overall nerf making it all super easy.

I bought the expansion.. my biggest issue with this game is simply devoting the time to get caught up to the current story / levels to be relevant again..

You could probably just purchase the skip potion they will most likely offer when Shadowbringers releases, and just find the almost guaranteed youtube video on the story.

It's pretty good, but can be pretty time consuming. Especially if you have not played in months/since release.

Just like class changes for every expansion, they are cleaning up the Gather/Crafting skills also, won't excalty make things easier, sense we also get a whole slew of new items for crafting,

Patch data is usually available around the start of the 24 hours maintenance that precedes early access.

Depends on how they do it. Hopefully they make it harder to gain quality via crafting, so the higher starting HQ becomes kinda necessary to keep the same difficulty. That said crafting hasn't been hard all of SB due to Prudent Touch specifically so I don't know how they'll go next expansion, they'd need a rather large increase in difficulty to make it challenging. Even if it's easier to craft if you get all HQ, people will still look into crafting with as few HQs as possible since that's how you can get money, it's already easy as fuck to HQ if you have full HQ mats, it's just not worth it when you can HQ with only 1 or 2 items instead(items that you can make yourself off NQ mats into HQ like say 80% of the time and then sell the rest to break even on mats price).

I can't say I care too much either way, crafting's just something to pass time and make money and I didn't mind the SB way of being so easy you just macro everything because there's no need to manual craft, finding perfect macros to cut corners on materias/food was interesting to me at least. I had my own macros, made for NQ Tempura/no tea/minimum melds because of price fluctuation on HQ tome mats often dropping to the same price as NQ when many people were dumping them at the same time and it felt nice to figure these out rather than follow the guides recommending cunning HQ teas + Macha HQ for everything which felt like a huge waste of money.

SB's crafting has definitely been easier, and I hope you're right that they make it harder to raise quality through actual crafting. As you noted, macros at the end game will always be about HQing with as little HQ mats as possible, I just worry the 75% thing from mats will just be an across the board nerf to make it even more accessible (when it already was silly easy). Kind of like how they said they want to make acquiring the Master Books 4-6 easier to acquire...when the Master 4 books are literally only 200 red scripts apiece. That's only like 2 collectible turns in per book, which is about as easy to get as it gets.

Master books 4-6 are older books, so doesn't really matter if they reduce the costs. Honestly they should make the ARR master recipe books easier to get, if anything.

I'm not super worried about the HQ change. All it will do is place a greater value on HQ mats, which is a buff to well geared gatherers, since getting HQ materials to increase the odds of HQ components will be desirable.

Additionally, the interview with Yoshi P about the Ishgard Restoration mentions end game crafting content (there will be leaderboards and some combines are going to require max slotted high tier crafting gear, which comes with special rewards for people who succeed), so I suspect they're still going to make that difficult to obtain.

That's what it's supposed to do, but since everyone just looks for the minimum they need to HQ through macros anyways, I think it might just end up reducing the need for HQ mats even further, unless they actually make raising quality through crafting more difficult. It might have been a better idea if the high end crafting was more like HW versus how it was in SB.

The Restoration sounds like a good idea, will see how it works in practice.

The books are easy to get but they're older books and it's pointless for them to keep their high value when they're adding new books you have to get with the same scrips too. It makes perfect sense for them to reduce the old books no one cares about for easier catching up.

Anyway crafting was never "hard", it was just tedious at some point(the convoluted shit system they had early in HW which was an abomination and required you to craft dozens of items to get some materials to craf the real stuff) or new back in ARR so people still were experimenting a bunch and running everything manual but that time was mostly fishing for Tricks and was really easy unless you had terrible RNG. SB was easier but it's not like it made a huge difference in the amount of people crafting or ruined the economy or whatever. Even easier, most people still don't wanna bother doing crafting, or investing money in materials to craft stuff and then adjust pricing to actually sell and shit, it takes quite a bit of effort really.

So it's kinda whatever, I expect about as many people as before are going to be crafting and gathering. The Ishgard shit might get some people to level their crafting classes for "free" though if it works kinda like beast tribes where you don't pay for shit, but we'll see about that. Even then many people got 70 crafters from Ixal > Moogles > Namazus and still don't bother crafting.

They were going to have to change the currency anyways for those old books, as red scrips will be gone I assume with expansion and yellows will become the new reds and we'll get greens or something to be the next "high level" scrip.
