The tradeskills really come into their own , I think when you get all the initial skills(level 15 from each) and more later. When you start dancing with your CP, durability while improving the quality to make sure you get a HQ item. It's a interesting little mini game that I actually got addicted to for a bit and this coming from someone who normally despises tradeskills. It's not on par with say SWG crafting or some other robust systems but its not as bland as most games systems. The tradeskills are so fucking awful though, like "throw up onto a plate, then eat it, repeat x 20, then come talk to me for your next quest". I tried a lot of them and some were less bad than others, but they were all AWFUL.
I hope fates still do, I really want to keep all my leves for crafting/gathering. Plus it would be super easy to just go outside aeleport during EA and grind those fates/goblin camps for 2-4 levels to stock up on seals ;PIt was 1,000 Grand Company Seals (currency) in P3 but someone in Linkshell mentioned it was increased to 2,000 seals for release. Also there was some debate about whether or not Fates were going to still drop seals and I don't remember the outcome of the conversation. You can use Grand Company Leves to get seals, trade in certain equipment / items for them as well.
I have it on hand so I'll be nice and save the trouble of googlefu. If you do a bit of googleFU theres a guide out there. I'd help ya out but I'm at work. Look for like "Reddit ffxiv linkbook" or something. Some guild posted a huge list of useful links including chocobo.
There was fog in Gridania a few times while I was levelling Friday, and yeah you couldn't see much in the distance. The weather was cool and it looks like a blizzard is actually that. I thought the thunderstorm going(with thunder, lightning and pouring rain) while I was fishing was great. Now if they would just give me a lounge chair or let my character sit on a dock while fishing, it would be golden.
I never did get to see fog, but I guess it actually really impeded visibility?
Note the text that says, "Rest of the topic below is just an idea but Red text will be in the game."Holy fuck. That looks...complicated.
Comprehensive chocobo guide
And for above, does that mean pink is actually better than green? The item level is lower, but it's got more stats (and difference of 1 magic def).
Correct. I was in Eastern Thal gathering some popotos(lol potatoes) and it started raining with driving wind, and it would move my hair/robe always in the direction the wind was blowing(which was south at the time). Not sure how I played as long as I did and didn't see fog nor thunderstorms.
I also somehow missed the wind. Apparently it actually blows in a constant direction? And moves your clothing?
What about chocobo breeding? Not with each other, mind you. I mean actual interspecies mating with your chocobo. There is more than enough fanfict documentation on the process to draw from.Note the text that says, "Rest of the topic below is just an idea but Red text will be in the game."
Everything below that is just a bunch of shit some dude with way too much time on his hands made up as a suggestion to SE.
The game's core mechanics aren't anything new, but the overall level of polish/removal of terrible mechanics goes alongway. In no short order on removal of terrible mechanics:You are all just reaffirming what I've said all along. You all talk about how you want innovation and how much you hate the WoW formula and every new MMO is crap because it's just another clone and so on, and then a game comes out that offers next to nothing new or innovative whatsoever and you like it anyway. Those other games weren't bad because they lacked innovation and copied WoW too closely - those games were bad because they were bad games.
People don't want new, they want familiar. The most popular FPS on PC is STILL Counter Strike, 14 fucking years later. Call of Duty shits out a new clone twice a year and each iteration outsells the last.
FF14's main innovation is taking a giant step backwards in customization choices you have to make. No talent trees, no skill points, not alt advancement. Were those things ever even fun, or were they just an annoying system of tradeoffs? X skill is more fun and versatile, but I need Y to defeat this specific encounter. Does this game lose anything by getting rid of that shit? I've found them to be nothing more than a hindrance from the start. Maybe not having to pigeon hole yourself into a handful of catch-all talent builds is exactly what helps this stale retread of the tried and true seem fresh and fun.
Or maybe you're all just raging weaboos. It's hard enough finding an honest opinion when so many nerds get moist just hearing the FF title music.
They already made your banker essentially a sex slave, I don't think it would be that hard to palette swap a chocobo in there. What about chocobo breeding? Not with each other, mind you. I mean actual interspecies mating with your chocobo. There is more than enough fanfict documentation on the process to draw from.
