Honestly never understood cruises. I dunno tho, my travel is maybe just different. I usually do solo and prefer the ME or Africa. I remember my first time in the ME. Did a road trip in Jordan with some guys I met in a hostel.

Ended up getting caught in a riot involving rock throwing, tear gas and riot police in Petra. I remember watching a tear has canister fly over my head then all hell breaking loose. Ended up hiding behind some buses for a few hours watching police shoot tear gas at locals and locals throw rocks at police. My rental car was parked on the street between them.. Still have no idea how that car didn't get wrecked..

I figured that's about the most authentic ME experience you could get.

Hoss Hoss iannis iannis this is fucking bullshit. Been trying to adopt this cat a week and it sounds like they're gonna give it to someone else because the other applicant applied to adopt him AND another cat. It seems like they have some philosophy that having more cats is better for the cats and those people get priority.

The place won't shoot me straight as to whether or not the cat is available and tried to get me to Foster some cat with a medical condition as an alternative. They want me to come by at 1pm but won't tell me what the fuck is going on. Wtf, who woulda thought a week to adopt a cat and then get snaked from it because the place has some dumb philosophy that cats are better in pairs.

The fucked up part is that I'm 99% sure I applied BEFORE THE OTHER PERSON.

They had a choice.

Get rid of 2 cats or get rid of 1 cat.

They chose to get rid of 2 cats.

I've never ever had a single problem getting a cat. heh. I've picked 3 of them up out of parking lots as kittens... and they were good cats. You don't -have- to get them that young, but it does help. If you get an older cat it will always be a little bit wilder than if you get a kitten. Which is fine once you've figgured out cats but not so great for a 1st cat.

Do you think a kitten is a better choice? I thought a cat that's 1 year old would be best because you'd have a better feel for it's personality.

I've just had a bad experience years ago with a kitten that ended up turning into a shitty mean bipolar cat.

1 year old is fine. a 1 year old feral cat presents a challenge of taming it. But a 1 year old shelter cat isn't a problem at all.

For tame cats honestly once they're past a year as long as you aren't a shitbag to them they'll adapt to you and bond. You could get a 2-3 year old cat and be perfectly good. It makes a pretty big difference if they aren't tamed.

Mostly at how many scratches and bites it's going to take before they realize you AREN'T food, you GIVE them food.

Leave him be for a while. Make sure he knows where the food and water is, and try to take him to the litter sooner than later and use your hand to make his paw scratch around in it a bit. He'll likely explore around while you're sleeping or when it's quiet, and within a day or two he'll feel comfortable enough to not hide so much. Try not to make too many loud noises, but also don't try to be super quiet. He needs to get comfortable with the normal noise level of your place.
