He's good man. I will say though. He's a year old and still has a lot of energy. He gets bored I think and will bite my feet.. I think it's out of frustration/boredom. Also he'll bite sometimes for the same reason. He's super sweet tho, will come crash on you sleeping on his back. But when he's feeling squirrelly he drives me crazy. I'm slammed right now with work to get done on my computer but can't work at my desk because he always has to be around me and he'll step on my keyboard or get in front of my monitor etc. So I've been working on my laptop/couch because it's easier to keep him off it and I can sit near his cat tree which he'll take naps on.
Ive bought him a shit ton of toys. I just ordered some electronic ones in desperation to hopefully distract him. I hope the biting for attention/boredom stops/doesn't get worse. I've tried what the internet says and made noises when he does it but doesn't seem to help. Resorted to spray bottle last night even tho I prob shouldn't?
He's awesome and super sweet but it's getting to me when he gets squirrelly because I'm slammed busy till middle of next month.. I'd like to work at my desk in peace every now and then.
If youiannis ,
Hosix ,
Void have any advice please let me know. I don't wanna lock him in a room. My place is littered with cat toys everywhere but he's either picky about them or just wants my attention. He follows me everywhere. Hell if I give him food then walk away he's torn whether to follow me or eat.
Also I'll throw some pics down after I get him groomed on Tuesday with his nails done and lion cut. That way you all can call me a raging faggot in unison.
You've got to be mean to them when they go into a place they're not supposed to be though, and that part sucks. Not sure if cats are smarter than human children or not. Usually I only have to smack a cat with a stick a few times for it to realize it should not get caught alone in that room.
Human children, i'm told, it can take years.
Ok good to know. He's gotten a little better on the play scratching. I don't quite look like a methhead with a scratching problem anymore.Try to do everything to nip the biting now. I let my kitten play bite without trying to stop him when he was young. Now, as a 10 year old, he doesn't bite often, but when he does it's hard. Weeks long scratches, drawing blood, etc. It makes me want to punch him in the face when he does it.
Try some baldrian drops on the scratching board. mebbe catnip near it too.
Spray bottle for the biting. Definitely.
He is trying to establish his dominance over you. You have to break him!
But make sure to get some quality playtime with him. I may have missed it...but did you get a laser pointer for him? My cats love that. I just use a bore laser.
Yeah, animals genuinely like to know who's in charge.I had one tomcat bite me to the bone. That one actually hurt and I picked him up so his face was level with mine, looked him straight in the eye, and yelled "Oww!" at him. Weirdly, that tomcat never bit again and would follow me around like his alpha. I think he was impressed that I didn't kill him.
New cat toy. Think I'm going overboard Bros.
Holy shit that butterfly toy drives him insane. Problem is he drives to run off with it or accidentally hits the poorly placed on/off button.
I could definitely make something similar that's tenfold better. Weighted, better placed button. He'll make an app for it to put it on a timer.
