That is how I was originally taught the resistor color code. Except it was Bad Boys Rape Our Young Girls But Violet Gives Willingly. Black Brown Red Orange Yellow Green Blue Violet Gray White.
When straightening up, if I found a resistor of unknown value, I would go through the color bands quietly talking through the mnemonic since that's the only way I remembered the code. So if someone walked by unfamiliar with said mnemonic, they probably thought I was a closet felon. Good times.
Since nearly all parts are surface mount now, the color bands are gone and the next generation of engineers will never have the joy of having a professor tell them Violet is a slut.
