Don't know who Isaac King is, the music is by Johnny Mandel and the lyrics by the 15 year old Michael Altman - the son of the director of the film, Robert Altman. Fun fact, the song was so popular Michael earned many times more money from it from royalties than his dad earned for directing the film.
A good book to read is James Clavell's Whirlwind, a semi-historical novel set during the revolution. It does a very good job of describing the chaos surrounding the events, and how it was far from certain that the Islamics would prevail over all the myriad of forces that were against the Shah. But it's a very tough read, so much anger in it. I listened to it as an audiobook and could never listen for more than 30 minutes at a time sometimes.
