Pastor hate aside, the waitress who posted that wasn't even involved. She lied initially on reddit about being the actual waitress who served the Pastor, and now admits she has no clue if a tip was actually left or not. Apparently she's given an interview and follow up interviews over atConsumerist.com. This waiter chick is a classic attention whore. She probably has sharp knees too. When I was in high school I took my now wife out on a date to an Italian restaurant and did not tip the waitress. I saw the waitress again when I went to buy pot from a dealer of mine as it was his baby's momma (surprise!), the dealer then proceeded to sell me a really small bag of shitty weed.
Lesson here is karma gets around, tip the person making 2.00$ an hour.
^ ThisHowever I don't think the person serving you understands that it's just supposed to be a nice gesture of gratitude and not your responsibility to be their employer and pay them.
Mimimum wage laws do apply. The employer is supposed to make up the difference IF the server doesn't receive enough gratuity compensation (at least in NY State). The employee and/or employer usually sign statements effectively claiming the servers make "x" amount in tips. The little secret is servers actually do very well with cash tips because most of them only pay taxes on minimum wage, but take in a lot more.I just think it's fucking absurd minimum wage laws don't apply and they get paid 3.50 an hour and on top of that have to pay taxes on tips.
Tax the poor. There's so many of them.
I say tax churches. One stupid baptist church in my city has so much money they keep adding on and on to their gym. They have a humongous indoor track, top quality workout facilities, multiple basketball and voleyball courts indoors, a huge rock climbing wall, etc, etc. It's the biggest and nicest workout facility I've ever seen in my life.I just think it's fucking absurd minimum wage laws don't apply and they get paid 3.50 an hour and on top of that have to pay taxes on tips.

People need to learn, as I was told early in life... Tipping is the oil which keeps the machine of society properly lubricated and running.Sweet, I sense a tipping derail (first on Rerolled) where neckbeards come out of the woodwork and get all huffed up by having to tip at a restaurant. You anti social fucks. Stay home.

No there aren't, it's a federal law.You have abusers on both sides of the coin. Not all states are like NY, there are plenty where the "make up the difference" doesn't apply.
What the fuck? You aren't talking about buying 3 pair you are talking about determining whether the salesperson deserves a undervalued(or even 0) commission. How are you this bad at constructing analogies?
Tipping is essentially a pay-for-performance business design it isn't capped as a set wage is, it is similar to piece rate work, or commission systems. Gratuity generally scales with service, hence the difference between an 18% tip or a 30% tip. The tipping debate tends to arise when amounts less than 15% are discussed. Are you a proponent of if you go into a department store and try on 2 pairs of shoes you should buy 3 pair?
