Nah. These beauts are definitely GOTY contenders.

Sad thing about that image is that DAVG, Dustborn, and Star Wars will all be nominated for various awards, with a high chance that DAVG actually wins GOTY. I'm sure Dustborn will win the DEI award.

Elden Ring DLC, CoD: Black Ops 6, FF7 Rebirth, Metaphor, Black Myth: Wukong, Astro Bot, and probably others I've missed came out this year, so maybe we'll get lucky and they'll bulldoze some of the trash.

Vampire Survivor released an ode to Castlevania dlc. For $4 it's amazing for anyone and if you grew up on the NES to PSX series it's doubly so. I think there is something like 60 characters to unlock and it seems each has a well done remix of a song from the series.

Well shit. I already thought the game was pretty much an "ode" to Castlevania anyways. But who am I to complain about a game that even with a new trademark DLC, will cost less than what.. 8 bucks altogether? lul

I thought their Contra pack was pretty forgettable, but at this rate we'll all be throwing them $5 for dlc packs until we die.

The Castlevania one is much better than the Contra one. Map is huge and I like the mechanic they use to unlock more of the castle. I probably have put 10 hours in over this weekend and still finding stuff almost every run.

What's a game that can have me addicted hardcore for like a month?

I've already played many of them including the soulsborne types and WoW.

What about Guild Wars 2? I was a fan of the first one.

I'm basically working 5-10 hours/week and the free time is killing me of boredom.

GW2 is like every MMO; it will require you to do dailies, so beyond the month.

Factory/base building games are highly addictive and can be "done". So, Palworld, Factorio, Dyson Sphere Project, etc...

I am partial to Dyson Sphere Project - you pilot a giant industrial mech, pave planets in multiple solar systems to turn them into giant factories and create the titular dyson sphere (or spheres), growing the factory until your CPU leaves you under 5 UPS (simulation units per second). The recent update added enemies (you can disable them), so you build automated defenses to fight them on ground, and deploy fleets against them in space. And farm them for high-tech components if you want ultra-performing factories.

Like all factory games - play if you like balancing logistics and funky transportation rails everywhere.

Or make art with planetary systems:

Monster Hunter : Worlds? If you haven't played that.

For building games, not in 2d, there is Satisfactory which is a very big time sink.

GW2 was fun, but I haven't played it since it first came out. So no idea how it is now.

you could try balatro although i'm not sure how long the curve of the game is. Its the only thing I've been playing for a few days. vampire survivors is similar

final fantasy 14 if you wanna dip back into MMOs. isn't there 2-3 new MMOs i don't keep up

friends I know are REALLY into the new pokemon mobile game, i don't give a fuck about mobile games or pokemon but it seems addictive

I’ll second factorio if you’re at all inclined toward that type of game. Expansion just came out and it will absorb 100+ hours easily.

Factorio.
This game and this genre kind of remind me of Roller Coaster Tycoon.. which was a great game, but these days I don't think I'm inclined towards that genre, tbh

I tried Final Fantasy MMO but the JRPG style doesn't appeal to me. I'm really looking for a game with good character progression like an MMO or RPG
