There's a difference--this is rigging to push an agenda while also snubbing anything that doesn't toe the line. 12 of the 16 on that jury have practically nothing to do with gaming and/or are sites no gamer has ever heard of. Several of them are the reason why people make jokes about "game journalist difficulty" being a setting in modern games. And they are all leftist rags who push their politics and degeneracy above all else.

They were always shit. I've never looked at who their official voters were before. what was it in previous years?
but, yeah, wtf? kindof funny, la times, venture beat, npr, pride, variety? what the fuck?

Nominees for most categories of The Game Awards are chosen by an international jury of over 100 global media and influencer outlets, selected for their history of critical video game evaluation.

I'm getting a dead link on the hyperlink to the jury. not sure if its due to overload, or if the page needs a sign in?

grummz is often full of shit. so, while those bs sites may be on the jury. note, that they might be 5 out of 100+ jurers. idk. cant see for sure.

The rest are just as bad. That's a chunk of 16 from the US jury list, but if you look at the rest it's sites like Digital Trends, Easy Allies, Entertainment Weekly, Game Informer (defunct now), Gameranx, Gamertag Radio (who?), Gamespot, Giant Bomb, and Wired. Didn't bother checking other regions but I'm sure it's a bunch of shit like Eurogamer, UK tabloids that for some reason publish game reviews, etc. Basically the same list of assholes I used to filter out on OpenCritic before it became just another shill site like Metacritic.

The Game Awards have always been "woke", I'm sure you all remember the Inclusivity award and how its presenter(s) have usually been trannies.

Yet, most people haven't known which outlets were part of the Jury, and this year in particular we've seen some very biased outlets rip into some very popular games (wukong, sm2, stellar blade) over some real bullshit.

The most laughable aspect to TGA is the 90/10 split between journos and players. It is simply ridiculous and the player voting is totally irrelevant, and I think the results of how the players vote is never shown.

Most of the reveals are junk indie games about finding yourself and garbage like that. The big reveals seem to be E3 and Sony/Microsoft stuff.

The game awards are for weird hipster jerkoff devs, just like the Oscars largely are. It's back-patting moreso than actual celebration by the majority of the people who play games regularly.

Figured this thread was as good as any…

I am trying to find an old arcade game I remember.

It was an on-rails space shooter - 3d - had voice and I seem to remember acted cut scenes intro - but the kicker was- it was a huge room game, with 4 - 6 seats for gunners and was like 2-3$ a play.

I played it back in the 90s at WdW contemporary resort during a youth trip camping - when the contemporary had a huge arcade.

Just wondering if anyone remembers it / name etc.. google is failing me
I remember playing something similar at foxwood casino in the 90s but was a submarine game. Had 5 people in 1 "sub" and you done tasks fighting etc.

Believe it was made by iwerks but got to lazy after I found the video.

Issue is there is no more E3, so the Game awards have been the most recent venue that showed up-coming games,(although Geoff seems to suck Kojimas dick any time he can)

Sony/MS venues are now trying to be monthly but ehh.. everything I've seen coming out of those have just been *shrug*.

The actual awards have always been retarded/trash, but last year they were funny because it had the side effect of eliciting negative comments from some AAA and AAAA developers. Various people were butthurt that BG3 was so successful and complained that it set an impossible bar of content/quality for them to achieve. I wouldn't expect anything like that to happen again in the near future.

I think it's fine for that as a platform where people can show off their games. You can ignore the actual awards, like you could before when it was only "game journalists" giving them, cause they were just as worthless back then. And making the awards votes from random players only would absolutely not be any better either, as it'd just be popularity contests which in no way reflect the quality of the games. It's all just pointless, unless you're trying to please your shareholders you really shouldn't care about awards for games(or movies or music).

At its core it is the same: Whoever pays enough money gets awards/nominations

If you didnt realize game awards was rigged the year fucking Fortnite won best music over FF14, I dunno what to tell you lol

This site right here is the only 'review' gaming website I give 2 fucks about. If you guys want to watch a streamer or whatever review a game, great have at it. I trust 0% of reviews that are not here.

Pretty much the same. I don't even know the names of most of the sites/awards that have been named. Here and a couple of streamers, ones that concentrate on one game and to see about a new league/season/expansion or whatever. Not someone that plays a new game every other day because they get paid to.
